Yes great point. Because comparing us to Villanova is a great way to make a point lol. DelusionalMean Gene post=429146 said:Jeff Smith post=429049 said:How many transfer from Villanova?
Good point Jeff. Only 1 I believe.

I have no idea as to who is even on the team anymore. The train is officially off the rails. We might be better and we might be worse but I cannot continue to support this program. A lack of stability indicates issues are running deeper than we all imagined. I really like CMA but not sure what the heck is going on. I get these were not his recruited players but the lack of any stability bothers me. Pittsburgh situation looks way better than ours presently.
I don’t care about the other 73 teams. I care about SJ and I thought we were finally heading in the right direction and 5 defections leads me to think that we are back to where SJ has been for the last 20 years, the bottom feeders of the BE. There is no positive spin. We are back to Norm selling recruits on playing time.

Not comparing us to Villanova per se but the point is that good programs, stable programs don’t lose half their team to the transfer portal. How many teams that made the NCAA Tournament this year lost half their team to the transfer portal. Many probably lost a couple , but not half. This was a mass exodus. If , like another poster stated , this was orchestrated by the staff, then they better bring in a higher level of player than the players that left or there should be hell to pay.

No, hoops only

Caraher couldn't even finish out the season. Moore was out the door before the last game. Cole literally disappeared right after the final buzzer of the SH lose. Dunn announced he was, well, done, while the season was still in progress. The rest of the kids announced they were leaving within a few weeks after our season ended. These kids are all friends. They all knew what the others were doing. This is exactly what Zach called it; A mass exodus. Anyone who can't see that, doesn't want to see that. This kind of exodus ain't on the kids completely, it's at least equally on the staff.
Cue up all the excuses in 3,2,1...

Hyperbole much?
Do the kids still get the additional year to play a year of football like Paulus did? Because if so, Earlington could get a master's if he does six years of college.Paultzman post=429204 said:BrooklynRed post=429202 said:Any rumors the Marcellus may look to not only switch schools but switch back to football? Earlington killing it at a school like this whereas being a bench player for SJU makes a ton of sense for him. Same as Dunn or, even, Williams.
Monte post=429990 said:This ain't sour grapes, but I honesty think that the role Earl had here was a perfect fit for his skill set. I know he's looking to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond, but I just don't see him being a go-to guy, even at a mid major. He was much better off being the guy that opposing defenses laid off of, to focus on Champ and Posh, rather then the guy opposing defenses will now focus on. He got a lot of open looks from outside and garbage baskets for that exact reason. I wish him the best regardless.
Spot on, Monte
I thought Duke had carved out a really nice role for himself at St John's
But, when most kids have a little taste of success, they want more
The question is can he produce when he is the focal point of a mid major team
I don't know but I wish him well and hope that he is happy wherever he goes
I agree. He’s a more well-rounded player than Earlington. The thing is, I hope Williams back isn’t a chronic injury. If I’m recruiting, a guy his age with a back problem is a red flag.JohnnyFan post=429950 said:guinness77 post=429928 said:A lot of these kids are just setting themselves up to play professionally. Yes, except Williams isn't going to a school like Bryant.
