Luis status

An indication of how few star players have recently played in the StJ’s basketball fans draw reference to players who played 44 years ago.

Let’s hope StJ’s fans will someday be able to draw comparisons to star players who have within the last decade.
Very good observations . Back in the day , 44 years ago as you mentioned , we were witnessing Players like Mullin , Berry , Mark Jackson , Bill Wennington David Russell , Willie Glass , Shelton Jones , etc

Those players became Legends or near Legends. Then followed by Malik Sealy, Robert Werdann , Ron Artest , Erick Barkley .

Later , Marcus Hatten .. Shamorie Pods , Champagne .

We had better Players back in the day , fewer of late but , Pitino might bring in some future Legends .

We need to see a body of work on Luis before he’s ready to stand with those mentioned . He has the potential , which RP has acknowledged . Time will tell .

Good stuff. Thanks for making me feel really old.😉

Don’t forget Reggie Carter, Billy Goodwin & Boo Harvey.

No love for D'lo, Felipe and Zendon, all 3 top 10 all time scorers, I see.😉

Hatten, Shamorie and Champagnie never one anything either before that card gets pulled. :ROFLMAO:

A legitimate oversight . Thank you . I try to do these from Memory. Maybe I should go back to every seasons roster

It wasn’t deliberate .

How far back should we go ? All 3 you mentioned are standouts ! No issue

Tony Jackson , Alan Seiden , Sonny Dove , Mel Davis , George Johnson

All go into that legend category .

I knew that. Was all in jest.
And , don’t ask me what I had for dinner on Tuesday .

Or , who was the 5 th starter on the 65 NIT Chsmpions team .

Sonny Dove , the McIntyres , Ken and Bob and Jerry Houston .

I’m guessing Gus Alfieri , who recently passed away . But , I’m not sure .

Nova had Billy Melchionni , George Leftwich , Jim Washington , Walli Jones , I think and forgot the 5 th starter .

No doubt. We have had our fair share of program Legends. The list is pretty damn impressive IMO.

I only went back to guys I’ve seen play. My father tells me how good those other guys were all the time. Not to mention my man William “Beaver” Smith. R.I.P.

Glen Williams too .

What a great photo of Brianna and Jay Wright . Reminds me of our own Granddaughter a few years ago .

She applied to a lot of Schools , NotreDame , Villanova and Georgia Tech among them .

Her Mother was a Executive at Nike and through various connections , arranged a visit to Nova and a invitation to watch a Cats practice . Jay arranged some time to meet her. and gave her one of those bracelets that has the team name on it . She had already been accepted by the School . She came home from the visit raving about Villanova and Jay .

Needless to say, the very next Day she got her acceptance letter from ND . And , Nova finished 2 nd .

She finished her 4 years in SBend and is now applying to Med School .
Panther , as difficult as College Apps are , Med School apps and the requirements almost make kids think otherwise about becoming a Doctor .

Good Luck to Brianna , Villanova is a great school with a classy Student Body . And , excellent Academics .
Wishing your daughter all the best as her journey continues. I can't even imagine what a Med School application consists of.

They really have to manage Luis’ minutes for long term benefit. Frustrating, but it is what it is.
If shin splints is basically an overuse type injury might seem that they have pushed too much too quickly.

Curious what Alumni Hall would recommend in a situation like this.

Sly

you can find the box score in current media guide, page 176. Gus not on team, 5th starter was Bobby Duerr. Walli "Wo Wo" jones not on Nova that year. Great year (except for Joe leaving after it) as we won Holiday Festival beating #1 Michigan and then winning NIT
