Long Beach St game thread

St. Mary's had a few players just getting over a stomach virus so I wouldn't doubt Sheed got it from them during the game the other day. Either way, you could see how valuable he is to this team

Yes, he is important . Still, we have no turnovers this half and Branch has played under control with his passing.

Yes he is. I've always been a big supporter of branch

The Johnnies are taking care of business, but this LBS squad does not look like a good team. Good thing we are not playing a better team. We just don't have the kind of depth to play a good team without a guy like Jordan. Glad to see Branch stepping up tonight.

Very active forcing turnovers this game. Very pleased with the defense which is becoming a bit of the norm these days

Something odd that I noticed with CO, when he is having a good offensive night, he doesn't fade away on his free throws. When he isn't having a good offensive night, he fades away on his free throws. Seems like a confidence/psychological thing

CO playing really well tonight. You just wish he would stay another year and develop his offensive game.

I really, really, really hope for our sake there are no NBA scouts at CA tonight and all game film disappears...

I watched LBS play #9 UT the other night and maybe it was the match-ups or maybe it has been all the travel but UT had their hands full for most of the game. In contrast, despite missing Jordan and Harrison being sub-par, we handled them very well tonight.

Exceptional D again.

The turnaround in SJU from last year is quite remarkable.

Different players stepping up every night, great chemistry.

Branch handled all the minutes he got big time.

Point guard is the hardest position to be a backup in. I think he gets a lot of hate because it's so hard to get in a groove as a backup. He is a player that needs to be in for long stretches to have a good game. It's all about getting comfortable and feeling what is going on in the offense. When you're coming in for 5 min stretches it makes it real tough. This is what happens when he plays a full game as a starter. And I'm not saying that he should play over Sheed, but maybe a lineup with both of them and DLo as the other guard could be really strong.

Every St John's fan has to be proud of the character the core of this team revealed this season. They play unselfish, with intensity, comraderie, and even humor. I hope they get respect from the general Metro area sports world with improved attendance at their games. They deserve a vocal sixth man in the stands, especially for games at the Garden.
