Long Beach St game thread

The thing that concerned me the most about Rysheed was the mention that he was home in Philly resting. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but why can't he be on campus resting with the rest of the team, especially during the season? I know he's got a family to take care of at home, so maybe that's it. I really can't see him leaving, it's just a bit concerning from the outside looking in.

He wasn't felling well and went home for Christmas; it could be as simple as that. If classes are in session he stays on campus. With his unfortunate family situation from last year and his Moms health (which has improved from what I read) It may be best for him to be at home for the Holidays. I know we have not gotten many breaks in the "News" department over the past few years but let's not get to far ahead of ourselves here.

So does the rest of the team get the same benefit? Don't they have to stay on campus and practice/train each day and night?

If they were ill and maybe needed to be in their hometown at this time maybe they would. All I am trying to say is that we need not jump to the negative. There could be reasons he needs to be in Philly. If another player had similar issues maybe Lavin would let them go as well. All we know is what was written. We have not heard any "smoke" to think there is something wrong. Could the fire appear tomorrow; possibly, then we will all have time to be sick for the Holidays!!

Felix Balamou lost a year of eligibility because of Rysheed's smoke last year. A lot of good that did him and the team.

Balamou played that game because Jordan went home to be with his sick mother in the hospital.

Thanks for the NEWS FLASH! BTW, that is not why Balamou "started" that game and who has since faded into obscurity.

Let's get something straight, first of all Rysheed does not stay on campus, he stays in an apartment off campus. Since he was not able to play, he went home to be with his family which is logical. If any student was sick, no one would expect them to stay in an apartment by themselves when they could go home, especially since school is not in session. Why this is a problem, I just don't know.
Maybe some posters just ain't happy unless they have something to complain about. The team is 10-1, and as a fan I am happy to see they are playing well and looking forward to rooting for them on Sunday at Barclays.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !!!!!

Thank you. It's Christmas in 2 days and the semester is over. Why should he hang around when he can get some home cooking, and some family love. He can't practice or play, so give the kid a break.

cmon bro... let's not leave out the rest of the story. Felix left for a month and a half in January to go back home to be with his sick mom...I have pics of him with her if you need proof. Coach didn't know that that would happen when he activated him.

I think most here know the story and most would agree that going home for both kids was the humane thing to do. Most also know that Felix had been declared a redshirt when he mysteriously became a starter in a big big game. We also remember last year the team had depth at every position yet Felix was activated. Most also know that was a travesty and the kid was used by Lavin to make a point, whatever it was meant to be. Since his play in one meaningful game last year he has faded faster than you can say Christian Jones. All I know is that it all revolved around Rysheed Jordan.

Seems like all this winning is tough to handle. Hold off till the first rough patch and you'll be content and thrilled with telling us so

questioning is not getting ahead of ourselves.

Questioning is not getting ahead of yourselves. However in matters like this, I believe posters should exercise some self constraint and perhaps question it in private. Why the need to do in a public forum? What good does it do to throw this kid under the bus based on some conjecture? If there is a problem then the bad news will come out eventually. If it there isn't bad news, then no news will come out. Just be patient. The kid plays for the university. I believes he deserves to be shown some respect. He hasn't embarrassed the university in any way since he's been here.

It almost like this thread was started because someone wanted to be first to report some news, the first to break a big story. To me it seems self-serving to start (and continue on with) this thread.

Just sit back and be patient and prudent with your words. If some bad news comes out, then there will be plenty of time to discuss it at that point and you all can have at analyzing the news. Until then, in my opinion, there is no reason to speculate to the negative side. It's not fair to the kid, his teammates or to the program as a whole.

How does no news come out? No news would never come out

Tired legs at the end of the season ?? These kids are young no way they get tired. Even if they do the frustration and the motivation that they have from the last few seasons will push them. Most top teams have a 7-8 man max rotation.

Agreed. Providence played a very short rotation last year and won the tourney. Our last BE Championship team barely played 7/8 guys. I'm more concerned with injuries than tired legs. Our end of year schedule is very tough though. We need to start off fast in conference.
