Lavin parting ways with St.John's

with threads like this the site is going off the rails, where is your source buddy? don't say crap like this without a source.

I would bet this is BS. google just posted 2 days ago that his "sources" said monasch was fired. If this turns out to be crap I don't want a guy like this posting

Agreed. Just post that you are hearing he may be fired but have no confirmation. Don't go and start a new thread. I just logged in and thought it was a definite decision and breaking news it's just more BS speculation

I am sharing with you what i was told and I stand by it 100%. Do you want me to record the conversations to satisfy you? Come on man.

You have 68 posts--most of which have either been proclaiming someone getting fired or defending those posts.

We go through this as a community several times a year when big news is expected. You'll have to forgive us for being skeptical, but it would not be prudent to take you at your word with no history. If you're right, you'll get your credibility. If you're wrong, you are better off just cutting your losses with the MrGoogle handle and starting anew.

Me, I'll just wait for the school to announce.

The way this program is run everything is like a soap opera.

The soap opera is how our fans react to everything. The university has not done a single thing wrong yet--the key word there being yet.

Pre extension/parting ways drama I was told in Charlotte (by SJU personnel) that Chris Mullin is interested in the job. I never believed it but I guess there might be some truth to that.

-2 NCAA tourneys
-2 20+ win seasons
-2 NBA players

I don't care some of you don't like him. If we were to be under .500 next year I understand but now??? Not a right decision in my view.

Agreed, it's horrible.
Should let the haters wait a few years before celebrating.
Nobody wanted the jog 5 years ago.
Why should it be any different today?
Let's see who DePaul gets,

What happened to the extension?

The terms obviously sucked.

All this drama caused MJMaher to crash a plane on purpose. Do you guys see what you're doing to the poor guy?

More twists and turns this week than a pretzel factory. I'm done with the rumor mill. This is worse than the 48 hours before the Briscoe announcement. I'll wait until the school announces. As a fellow forecaster likes to joke: "We'll know more after it happens.".

Yes we were fortunate to have had Steve Lavin show interest 5 years ago - and he's resurrected the program whether you were pro or con. I recall Michael Kay and his Fordham bias saying my SJU is a losing proposition and no one wants the job, no good kids want to play here.

Are some of us forgetting those realities???
I hope Lavin stays, I hope this post is bogus and the blessing: it shook us up to reality.

All the best

Was thinking the same thing. I kind of enjoy coming to the board to see the analysis of every rumor and tip. I don't appreciate statements made as if a fact (Mr Google) if they are only rumor. The info and source are fine, but either add to another thread, or qualify it as a rumor. As this plays out, I'm actually thinking the university is looking at and discussing all of the options, openly with SL, and maybe they have different visions or expectations at the end of the day, or maybe they come to an agreement.

There are a few theories out there. Here is what I recall.

1. SJU is looking to cut costs on the staff. If so, it allows for negotiations that go nowhere. Lavin and SJU decide to part ways over money, and the admin doesn't look like the bad guy.

2. Lavin is stalling looking for other opportunities. I doubt he is stalling, but may he looking for a back-up plan.

3. The school is stalling, waiting to see who is interested. Could they be that out of touch?

Tough to outright fire a guy that just made the tournament. Maybe both parties just looking to save face.

Been told that Steve Lavin meeting with St. John's today. We will see if a decision is made. Lots of misinformation out there.

So Bobby Hurley, Danny Hurley, Archie Miller, Chris Mullin, Chris Mullen, Mark Jackson,Tim Cluess and Steve Massiello walk into a bar.
No this is not a joke, that is the ST John's forum version of a job search
