Lavin parting ways with St.John's

I've been saying that all along; give sources! Especially when some posters make outrageous claims about Lavin. But then I was lambasted by that poster's supporters that sources do not need to be identified. Oh well.

I'll believe this when I see it and hear it.
 
My guess is that Lavin is out. But as a thank you/reward for his last 5 years of service, the school has hired him to be part of the search committee for a new coach.

We have confirmed that if Calipari leaves Briscoe will come to SJ

I have been very bi-polar on this topic. I think Coach Lavin has started to rebrand the school. It is seen in a much better light than 5 years ago. On the other side we have had a very short roster and have not been able to bring in BE quality back ups to our starters or even out the classes for consistency. It is a tough call. I understand the excitement over a name like Mullin but he has never coached or recruited and I doubt he leaves a management job with an NBA team to come back to coach. If Coach Lavin is gone we better have a name to replace him not another Manhattan coach with issues.
 
Took this long to fire or extend. If he is fired, we should have a new coach by Christmas I would think

I believe him although I wish it wasn't true. He has never shown an agenda here that I've seen, unlike some other posters. As far as the AD is concerned, just because it wasn't announced it doesn't mean it's not true.
