Lavin parting ways with St.John's

Pre extension/parting ways drama I was told in Charlotte (by SJU personnel) that Chris Mullin is interested in the job. I never believed it but I guess there might be some truth to that.

-2 NCAA tourneys
-2 20+ win seasons
-2 NBA players

I don't care some of you don't like him. If we were to be under .500 next year I understand but now??? Not a right decision in my view.

This, in a nutshell, is why Lavin should go:

Our biggest games over the last 3 seasons..

2012:
#16 Baylor - Loss
#14 Cinncinnatti - Win
#19 Georgetown - Loss
#20 ND - Win
#9 Syracuse - Loss
#12 Louisville - Loss
#20 Pittsburgh - Loss
#24 ND- Loss
#15 Marquette - Loss
BE Tournament - Villanova - Loss
NIT - St Joes - Win
NIT Viginia - Loss

2013
#20 Wisconsin - Loss
#2 Syacuse - Loss
#8 Villanova - Loss
#20 Creighton - Loss
#12 Creighton - Win
#9 Villanova - Loss
BE Tournament - Providence - LOSS
NIT - Robert Morris - LOSS

2014
#10 Gonzaga - Loss
#8 Villanova - Loss
#5 Duke - Loss
#22 Butler - Loss
Georgetown (must win) - Win
#4 Villanova - Loss
BE Tournament - Providence - LOSS
NCAA - SDSU - LOSS

In our biggest games in the past three seasons....
5 - 23

0 Wins against any top 10 teams; 0 BE Tournament Wins

What you posted are facts, Desco. But you conveniently omitted his first season. This is when the phrase, "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" comes into play. Stats can be tinkered and toyed with to support nearly anyone's argument.

At this point, I'm not even sweating it. Just announce an extension or move on. If they're moving on, then I'd hope they have someone competent in place.

So Bobby Hurley, Danny Hurley, Archie Miller, Chris Mullin, Chris Mullen, Mark Jackson,Tim Cluess and Steve Massiello walk into a bar.
No this is not a joke, that is the ST John's forum version of a job search

Only Massiello walks out, covered in everyone else's blood.

... And a University of Phoenix diploma in his hand.

Now this is funny!

Agreed, it's horrible.
Should let the haters wait a few years before celebrating.
Nobody wanted the job 5 years ago.
Why should it be any different today?
Let's see who DePaul gets,

Not your desired outcome, I guess. Maybe try another poll...

It's Official-
St. John's to name Mike Francessa new St. John's coach. Will keep his radio job and run practice during commercial breaks. Also says he will channel coaches that he has close personal relationships with to help put St. John's on top next season. Plans to bring in a string of Thorobreds to fill the need for bigs next season.

Throughout all this madness, this brought the biggest laugh to me! Thank you Knight, for a hilarious and creative solution!!

I almost wish we had just shut down this thread until we have confirmation. Or just melded it into the other 5480 threads about Lavin's impeding rehire after being fired on the conditions his contract includes us hiring Chris Mullin to write up the offensive sets and Tyrone Grant to work with the bigmen, who will fly to Italy to get trained in Grant's driveway on every third Saturday of the month. Lavin's pay will have no increases in direct monetary reward but there will be cheesecake in his hotel room's whenever he gets there.........

Ok so I know I could quit looking at the threads but I am waiting for something concrete and can't overcome my compulsion to read each tidbit.

Hire zach Braziller. He may suck as a coach but we know for a fact all of his players will be available to the media.

Hearing the four man search committee has already convened.

Generally as a show of respect for the ousted coach, the school won't announce replacement for a couple days. So even if the replacement is already a done deal, we probably won't have official announcement for a few days.
I am sure people will panic anyway though.

Post game drink: Diet Coke

Mullin not interested - just confirmed.

Wouldve been on board 100% with that hire...too bad

and this was confirmed by whom?

I think we need to shut this site down until any type of announcement is made. It is turning into too much of a he-said she-said thing.

It's a post by Avon. 'Nuff said.

I think it's always better if you announce the new coach first. This way you don't have to announce the firing.

In other words they're going to F this up, no doubt about it. And it's going to come down to not wanting to pay the appropriate salary to a qualified coach continue this kind of reclamation project, to Lavin OR a new coach. PS remind me how any of the local mid majors are light years ahead of Williard, Pecora, Ruland or any of the plethora of Manhattan coaching failures etc... NONE of them have Jay Wright pedigree so don't even go there.
