Lavin parting ways with St.John's

As a Lavinite i don't like reporting things like this, but a few players don't care if he doesn't return... Just thought as courtesy to the board i should write everything i hear whether i like it or not

So a few, by default, would mean Jordan and CO. Or the bench players whose opinion on this doesn't matter.

In Lavins defense he does seem to have a really special relationship with the seniors

Even the most popular coach is not loved by everybody. Iinevitably, these are kids with egos. It's not surprising that several feel that Lavin gave them a raw deal with PT or the like.

I'm sure that Sean Evans preferred Norm Roberts (at least initially) and Dwight Hardy and Justin Brownlee are eternally grateful to Lav for giving them a chance to shine.

I appreciate Rawdog sharing, but without specifics, I don't think it serves as an indictment against Lavin.

CO FB CJ... Couple of them because how they've been used or not used.. The other coz he's selfish and doesn't want to take accountability for what he did.

with that being said, 2 of them like and respect him as a person...i don't know how the other guy feels

He does. Maybe he's not on great terms with all these bench players

Or maybe they're unhappy about playing time

They should be grateful they haven't been kicked off the team yet for poor performance. They'd be better off at a mid major.

Not trying to challenge you on this, but with the exception of the special bond with D'lo I don't recall seeing or hearing much of anything one way or the other about his relationship with the other seniors.

Thats why its really important to identify and then recruit kids who can actually contribute at this level. It does no one any good to bring kids in who are better suited for much lower level of competition.

I thought I remember seeing Phil speak very highly of him.

Sometimes it's not easy to find your groove when you get pulled from the game right away. Then you don't see the floor in a game again for a month. If Felix was thrown into the fire like PG4 was as a frosh and got a guaranteed 30 plus a game, you'd see a difference in Felix' game... Lavin had his favs and they saw the minutes even when they should not have

I'm cutting and pasting a text I just received from someone who has been reliable with his info in the past. I'm not vouching for it, just sharing what I just got in a text.

"Lavin deal done in principle. Today's twitter rumors bull shit. Negotiating length, terms of extension. Diallo down to Iowa State and SJU. Johnnies in very good shape for Papagiannis. Sju waffling on Lavin is perception vs reality"

And for what it's worth he also sent me this;

"Sju signee Samir Doughty named philly public school player of the year.
sju commit Brandon Sampson Louisiana 1A outstanding player of the year."

As I squeeze a bit of lime in my Belvedere Unfiltered on the rocks, and watch ND vs WS I am very happy I am not as miserable as 1/2 the posters on this board nor do I care what the rumors are saying. Tonight the Vodka is good, the game is entertaining and hopefully Monday we will get some news of Lavin extended or fired. Either way 1/2 the posters will bitch about the extension or the hiring process and I will look forward to a new coach or our late recruiting push. I hope some of you can join me. Cheers

I was surprised that Balamou didn't get any burn in the tournament game. Was that due to his injury?

Nah, there was a video posted, I believe on the St. John's YouTube account. It had all of the seniors and I believe even Rysheed speaking highly of Lavin.

I don't think I ever remember a more polarizing issue on both sides with different info. At the end of Jarvis most wanted him gone so I don't recall a lot of differing info but that was also I guess because he was done during the season. Norm everyone wanted him gone except the other coaches in the league.

This one is so perplexing on what to believe as far as in or out

Either way looks to be over by the weekend
