i agree with Old School, obviously -- 21-12 is mediocre, and by that standard Lavin has had three mediocre seasons (one with Norm's players) and two less than mediocre ones.
I'm not sure what Jumbo is saying. Granted Looie has been gone a while, but I do not think it is unreasonable to expect another coach to get us to that level of success -- especially in a smaller, less difficult BE conference. We should EXPECT at least 20 wins every year, and to be in the mix near the top of the BE. That should be our minimum goal EVERY YEAR. Twenty wins is not a lot -- with a collection of low-and-mid-majors in the OOC we start with 10 wins right off the bat.
And every few years we should be a 25-28 win team that really makes some noise.
Can Lavin get us there? I think he is a mediocre coach who will deliver mediocre results. So get ready for a lot of years like the last two, because I think that's as good as we're ever going to get.
If you think we are a program that is going to annually be ranked in the top 25, make runs at the final 4 every few years, and be in the same category as the Dukes and Kentuckys of the world, then you must have been hanging out with Obekpa too much.
Not trying to be a downer, it's just the reality of the situation.
