Lavin loves where St. John's is going

Unless one is very close to Lavin , his pyche can not be evaluated. Everyone is different, some people thrive w pressure others wilt. He may be a good actor, but he seems upbeat.

If the current players return, then I don't think there is a question they'll be an improved team next year. Adding a play-making point guard will be huge and will give us a really solid trio in Harrison, Greene, and Branch. But the primary needs have not yet been addressed and it is impractical to predict a big leap forward as things currently stand.

We are currently one of the worst three point shooting teams in college basketball (28.3% as it stands) and only one player on our roster is averaging more than six rebounds per game (Harkless). This team needs shooters and front court players. If we're able to reel in some recruits that fill these needs, then we will be a dangerous team in 2012-'13. But until we shore these weaknesses up, next year remains up in the air.

Let's get back to the topic of the thread and the most exciting part of the article, our Coach said that "for SEVEN years he was watching for our job to open up and not only him but him and his wife....."

WOW, that makes me excited, having a coach that really wanted the job, means to me he wants to turn it into something way bigger than it was before he got here!

That's what I took away most from this great article.

Great viewpoint and definitely on the mark if true.

Excellent excellent post. 3 great points I couldn't agree more on

1) If everyone's back we will certainly be better
2) Branch is a huge addition, (how big remains to be seen) but he'll help immensely.
3) next year is very much up in the air, until we know what we're working with

The irony is ,others were offered the job and turned it down, we are fortunate they did.

Shows really good foresight on Lavin's part.

Most of us were only waiting 4-5 years for the job to open up after NR took over.

Lavin tweets today: "Stellar 2012 recruiting class on the horizon".

He said, this recruiting class could be the best yet...........Wowwwwwwwwwwww per NYC Hoops.net

I'm so stoked to see what that ninja :ninja: has up his sleeve....best yet?? that is saying a lot!

Lavin is BOLD with these statements. He must know a LOT we don't know. Certainly going to be interesting.

Very, very bold! It's gonna make things quite interesting in another month or two.

Mike Rutherford ‏ @CardChronicle
Jakarr Sampson reportedly down to Kansas and Providence. Louisville had tried to come on late. Ed Cooley's doing something right.

Hope this guy isn't right and Lavin wasn't counting Jakarr in that class.

Lavin is a very smart man and chooses his words very wisely, for him to make these kind of statements makes me believe there is some very INTERESTING commitments in our very near future!!
WOW

I love Lavin but think he's bluffing a bit. Not saying he wont put together a good class but would be surprised to see a class thats ranks up there with his best. Time will tell

There has to be, and Lavin can't be hanging his hat on Jakarr either to make a statement like that. Nobody know what to believe. I personally don't care, as long as Lavin delivers somewhere in the realm of what he's promising. I read the EC Bias tweet, and not sure what to make of it. Still like Jakarr a lot, but who knows? Lavin has to have something up his sleeve that we're not aware of, especially if Jakarr is even possibly not in the cards.

I hope Lavins rigth about recruiting but considering that Jakarrs probably not coming and Obekpa is the only semi big player left its hard to believe 2012 class will be anyhting great.

I don't doubt that Lavin has what he thinks is a stellar class on tap. At the same time, it's hard to for fans to read bold proclamations on twitter when you are simply going on the word of an 18-year-old who says he'll sign on the dotted line.

I think he has three assurances in hand, but they aren't worth the air they are silent verbaled on until the LOI is faxed.

I was thinking he has two assurances in hand, but that is semantics at this point. Regardless, I feel he has received some very, good news and just awaiting the late signing period.

I agree.... I'll feel more at ease once the LOI has been signed and faxed.

If this year has taught us anything, LOIs are worthless too.
