Lavin loves where St. John's is going

I have a man crush on Lavin. I'll admit it.

But considering he brought in the No. 1 recruiting class twice at UCLA, I have a hard time believing that this will be the best class he's ever signed, as he told Katz.

I have a man crush on Steve's wife. Omg... Luv her.....

Then its not a man crush. Geez

Maybe he is talking about a threesome!

Again people. Lavin can't say anything about anyone until the kids sign. That's why he has to talk in generalities.

Yes, but he and his assistants can talk off the record to reporters about recruits at any time.
Most coaches do.

No they can't talk off the record to reporters, if you talk to a reporter and it leaks out, it is "on the record". See what happened to Raphael Chilleous, Asst. coach at University of Washington. He made and "off the record" comment regarding a recruit that ended up in an article in Sports Illustrated and got cited with a violation by the NCAA. How about we just let Lavin and the rest of the staff do their jobs and discuss the merits of their work once it is complete. Within a month we should know who is coming and who is not coming.

As someone who has done this for a living, I can assure you that they do.

It's pretty simple.

Reporter: Coach, can you tell me who you're recruiting?

Coach: No. That's an NCAA violation.

Reporter: Can you tell me on background? I won't put your name to it.

Coach: Sure. We're going after X Recruit, Y Recruit and Z Recruit.

Reporter: Who do you have the best chance at signing?

Coach: X Recruit and Y Recruit. I think Z Recruit is just dicking us around to get a better offer.

Reporter: Thanks coach!

Coach: Anytime skippy! Remember, I'll cut off your nads if my name is attached to this.

Reporter: Don't worry coach, I love my nads.

I didn't even think about Morris. That makes sense. I'm now curious who Lavin is peeking in NJ.

Why are we assuming the south is fla?

I guess the assumption came since we're recruiting a kid from the south in Morris (who happens to reside in Florida). Not to mention, Moose stated that one of our posters was on the same flight as Chiles. The flight was headed to Florida.

The way some of these names are popping up I wouldn't be surprised if down south could be another name off our lists!

I couldn't think of anyone else we're looking at down there.
The jersey recruit mystifies me.

Maybe it's someone not happy with the direction of the team he's committed to, and is securing a backup plan before asking out of his LOI. :p

You couldn't be referring to Kyle Anderson??? LOL. Maybe Hurley did hold the LOI as speculated.
Wishful thinking..........

Kyle Anderson's father reported last week (after the SI article on UCLA) that his son was still committed to UCLA and woiuld not re-open his committment. Could be a smoke screen, but I got the impression Anderson would be in UCLA next season.

I don't know...i really am thinking that lavin has a big surprise..how will he save face with all he is saying if there wasnt something that he knows...he is on record as saying this will be his best class ever...really had me thinking that we are getting some guys that maybe haven't even been mentioned as interested in stj...perhaps its wishful thinking on my part, however he knows something none of us do..i don't think it is pr stuff, we are going to have our socks knocked off by what is gonna happen in the next 2 months

Who knows ! Seton Hall would still be a big stumbling block for us .

In any event Steve doesn't seem positive, he seems exuberant about his 2012 recruits to be. That sounds like great stuff. I hope it includes some monster beasts who are big time boards bangers and shot blockers.

agree he would look silly if what he said does not produce recruiting results

The center commited to SMU goes to HS in NJ. SMU coach in the hot seat.
