Kyle Anderson PG (UCLA)

St. John's and UCLA stand out for @KyleAnderson5 because they're in "large media markets," source with knowledge tells SNY.tv

We also have the benefit of familiarity, MSG, friends on the team, close to parents(important to KA) and the Big East. Signs point to SJU taking this one although I won't bet on anything until it's official.

Not even close fortunately. That was a big fear of mine before I moved out here, everyone said the traffic would be a nightmare. Neither my wife nor I have had a commute over 20-25 minutes tops since we moved here. FWIW I never had a commute to midtown of less than 30 from Park Slope or Hartsdale (1 hour door to door), my addresses my last 11 years in NY.

Drive from courts at Venice Beach to Pauley even on a busy beach Saturday would be 25 mins top provided you know where you're going. I'm only 10 mins from Venice Beach, if I didn't think the crowds would be awful I'd consider going down to watch and flash an SJU jersey at Kyle and Amile.

PS: Man it's weird seeing "Posts: 3" next to my name.

I was out in Santa Monica last week. Had a great time every time I wasn't on a freeway.... or a pier.

Yeah the pier can be a madhouse on the weekend. Good thing my kids have gotten a little too big for it.

Santa Monica's great but pricey, I live just on the South/Eastern corner a couple blocks from Santa Monica Airport but in LA.

That 25 minute drive from Venice Beach to Pauley will not get on the Freeway, by the way.

You are a west side snob LOL

You know it Ted. I don't go east of Beverly Hills, south of the airport or through the Sepulveda Pass for anything except work, golf and special events. ; )

Zags Twitter : "St. John's and UCLA stand out for @KyleAnderson5 because they're in "large media markets," source with knowledge tells SNY.tv" :cheer:
I think if its down to us and UCLA because we're both in big markets we have to be the favorite to land KA. We're clearly on the rise and KA is friends with several of the incoming freshmen.

Above all else, if it is between UCLA and us, we should win out on the basis that we are close to home which I believe is important to KA as it is to many players.

at the end of the day it comes down to whether KA wants to go away to college. i think that's the bottom line. UCLA, FL, and G'Town offer as good a program (and some would argue even better than ours). It is almost a guarantee that KA is a one and doner so i'm sure he wants a top notch coaching staff, a chance to go deep in the tourney, and in my personal opinion as true college experience as he can get for at least 1 year.

yes, we have nyc, the media capital of the world, msg, near his home, etc, but this young man knows all of this very well. there is not much newness if he stays here. and people will argue that his dad has a great influence, but so did Sir Dom's dad who publicly said he wanted Dom to go to Michigan, yet Dom came here.

i want KA as badly as anyone. but i think sometimes we drink our own kool-aid a little too much and in all frankness lavin has spoiled us. right now, in my personal opinion it's 60/40 in our favor.

in lavin i trust.

Like most others on this board I believe KA has a great skill set and will in all probability be a MCAA.
However, I would not agree that he is a one and doner as you claim.

I find it interesting how little the UCLA and Gtown fans are talking about KA.

The Seton Hall fans, as well, since the tweet from earlier today. It's like Zags tweet didn't happen today. No mention of it whatsoever on their boards.

At least UCLA has tons of big time players taken up discussion. They had Shabazz on campus this week as well. SHU Anderson is the top dog.

There may or may not be such a thing as one-and-done after the NBA comes to an agreement.

Is KA making his announcing public on ESPNU or something like that or is he keeping it low key?

Nothing about this recruitment has been low key. Expect announcement on big stage.

It's gonna be great watching him put on that SJU hat instead of the G'Town/UCLA/Florida hat on live television.

We gotta show him all the boards, once he sees that our fanbase features his biggest supporters their will be no way he can turn us down :)

I think Kyle said back when he chose the Sept. 20th date that he didn't want a big deal out of it, but his mom wanted it to be special. I think he may have even said that he could announce over twitter.

Obviously that all could be subject to change. Personally, I like the old hat game myself. Pull out that red hat, let's hope.

Agree about the hat thing. Never gets old for me. Personally I have loved Lavin getting these kids on espnu to announce. It has been a lot of fun to consistently see our kids committing on espnu.

But there are probably no hats to pull out ;)
