Kyle Anderson PG (UCLA)

Correct. Just glad this KA media game is over. I like our guards. When we play UCLA hopewe do welll. Wish him the best but what bothered me is his waiting game ,think he had to know for some time who he would pick maybe they just wanted the most exposure they could get. Not that fair to the schools since they could have moved on long before the 20th But then again they should have a plan B. Quess we will see how slo-MO fairs in div1

Word has it that it was practically a done deal after he left LA for the Elite 24 game. If, true then I agree that he should've ended his recruitment awhile ago.

I'm sure it was also done for more exposure and hype. Heard his folks will eventually move out to the LA area, as well. I think Kyle will do well in college and probably, will be in the NBA after a couple of seasons at UCLA.

We'll be fine!

Best of luck to KA, the kid and his family made a great choice.
UCLA is a great program with a great coach and a stacked team.
We can talk all we want about KA being the missing link at SJU but at UCLA it truly is the case.
With KA next season and without them getting another recruit they will have to be favored to win it all from the get go. They have the entire package.

Now lets see Plan B for the staff which they no doubt have. Would not be surprised to see the staff get another commitment in the next week or two to take the sting out of loosing KA.

UCLA may lose some players by the time Kyle ends up on campus. I wouldn't doubt Josh Smith bolts for the NBA after this season. So, I really don't expect him to be around. Reeves Nelson could also bolt, if he has a good season.

I'm also a skeptic to Shabazz Muhammad's(as, I believe he'll soon announce for UCLA) game. There is no doubt he's a heckuva player. But, he also somewhat reminds me of Ricardo Ledo.... Both players haven't met a shot that they didn't LOVE.

UCLA will be very talented, but I have a hunch they'll also be like our current team.... Very youthful. They still should field a pretty good team, nonetheless.

Many of you are very gracious with this KA thing but once a recruit commits elswhere I wish him nothing, I owe him nothing, we owe him nothing! In fact, I wish him the same thing I wished Slyvan Landesburg who was a very similar player in high school=====an early exit to Europe. He and his folks think he is NBA material in two years but he may be the slowest point forward in NBA history if that is the case.I do feel for the Hall fans who really needed a local high caliber player since they are not and never will be a player on the national recruiting scene.

You're cold, Class! Should I say, "no Class?" LOL I'm just clowning around. Honestly, I kinda understand where you're coming from. Had I been a Hall fan then I probably wouldn't be so gracious. I believe we'll be fine, as our staff will continue to beat the pavement for solid players.

This is what I'll say.... I wish Kyle the best of luck, but I could care less what he does on the court from this point. As, long as he doesn't suffer an injury (as, I don't wish injury on anyone) then it really doesn't matter with me.

According to Jerry Meyer it's UCLA.

All I know is 2 or 3 weeks ago Mcnpa and myself went to dinner with redmen.coms "Still Happy now shortened to just Happy " and he had gotten info that day from a source out there that UCLA was a done deal.

We didn't believe it then but he was probably one of the 1st ones to call it right.

D@mn you " Happy "  :)

I also said that night i was praying that my info was wrong.. I usually don't get quality info.. Let's just hope next time i do that it is in our favor :)

I can vouch for this by Happy.

good luck to ka. I was impressed with ucla when I was out there last year. Pauly is a crap hole though. Much needed renovations this year

BTW- I just got word. New HallDan odds in light of KA's verbal to UCLA. He now has SHU at 65%, down from 70%, UCLA up to 34% from 25%, Florida at 1%, and SJU and Gtown out. LOL!!!

I wish the kid as much luck as I wish any local recruit going to a big time program. No more.

UCLA is a GREAT program but since he's not coming here I could not care less about what he does in the future.

On to the next recruit. In Lavin I trust.

As for the Hall fans, I feel for them but they have no one to blame but themselves. They were awful during this process and are being delusional when it comes to how this loss affects their future.

Maybe I'm wrong and this miss on Anderson opens the flood gates for them, but those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. They need look no further than our recent history under Norm Roberts and the affect his 2nd place finishes with Corey Fisher and Sylvan Landesberg had on his recruiting and our program to see what the future likely holds for them.

I hope they buck the trend, because we'll need them to be a good program when we end up in whatever new conference we all end up in.

I can't wait for this thread to die out an fall to the bottom of the page. :silly:

THAT was funny! :silly:

I think it's kind of weird that JJ is down while this whole Anderson thing finally played out. I hope it's back up soon, but what a weird time for maintenance.

BTW...my worthless .02, this whole process has been ridiculous. The way the NCAA is run nowadays is such a joke and the thoughts leveled towards these teenagers is also ridiculous. I don't even care at this point where this kid ended up, I'm just happy it's over. At least, for this kid's sake, because of his talents and hard work, he won't be pulled in a million directions anymore. I know it's a loss for us as a program, but he's just a kid, and it really shouldn't be that big of a deal.
At least the staff can now shift it's full capabilities in another direction now that the circus is out of town. At least, until the next circus comes to town, lol.

I'm drinking my cup of coffee, just knowing MJ and "clowning" would soon be around the corner. My day is made :) , I can get back to work - lol.

In retrospect, I think part of the reason Kyle went to UCLA was the fact that he already had a ton of NYC, i.e., Northeast exposure. Going to UCLA, which I view as close to an overall equal to SJ's (will not go into my criteria for it now, not the point), will give Kyle more west coast exposure for his career. Of course, this is all pending he does what some expect at the next level. Having a future average NBA career negates any of my speculation. Also, playing in the Pac1.... provides overall lesser competition night in, night out. It's like the ACC lately...a two team race and that's it, save for Washington stepping up a bit after a disappointing 2011.

Fan2: Do you if this is true (seems to make sense)...If the staff/admin thought we truly were getting Kyle, wouldn't they have held off announcing the ineligibility of the guys? Would have made sense to me. Or did they have to announce it becuz it would have leaked anyway? It is confidential information afterall until announced.

Glad I was able to make your morning, purist. LOL

I agree with you, in reference to the Pac-12 being similiar to the ACC. You have a few solid (or, a couple) teams at the top while the middle and bottom are crappy, to say the least.

Wonder how many trips to the left coast bruins will pay for so KA's family can watch him play.

I'm just glad it's over. I don't wish KA bad , but I don't care how his career goes now, as I don't know him personally, and he is not with SJU. I do hope, if and when KA plays against SJU, SJU wins-just as I would with anyone or team we play-no more no less.
I am curious as to who we are going to go after with the ship that is open. I trust that Lavin and his staff are on top of things. Perhaps we will sit back and let the coming season play out and see what HS recruits step up in their senior seasons.

I don't know how the timing would have played out. But I don't think it would have mattered. If Anderson was coming here, delaying the announcements on Garrett , Pelle and Sampson wouldn't have impacted Anderson's commitment in any way.

Well.... There might not be any trips. I heard his family will relocate to the left coast next season.

I agree, FAN2. From what I've gathered, his decision was made several weeks ago.

As, I stated on last night.... I believe our staff caught wind of his decision, hence no in-home from us and no one from our staff to watch him on yesterday. We have to remember Earl Watson, Kris Johnson and Ryan Bailey, along with guys like Baron Davis and Matt Barnes have been around the staff lately. So, I'm sure they are privy to info coming out of the UCLA camp.

The staff probably saw the writing on the wall and didn't want to waste anymore resources in this recruitment.
