Kyle Anderson PG (UCLA)

@KyleAnderson5: "Had a great family meeting. I've decided to be a UCLA BRUIN!!"
Good luck to Kyle. SHU fans must be devastated.

According to Jerry Meyer it's UCLA.

All I know is 2 or 3 weeks ago Mcnpa and myself went to dinner with redmen.coms "Still Happy now shortened to just Happy " and he had gotten info that day from a source out there that UCLA was a done deal.

We didn't believe it then but he was probably one of the 1st ones to call it right.

D@mn you " Happy "  :)

I had already knew Kyle had made a decision weeks ago. I, actually thought he made his decision somewhere in July. Nevertheless, I didn't know what decision he had made at the time.

I also believe our staff had info, as well, hence no in-home and we didn't send anyone out to watch him today. I believe the staff felt the ship had sailed and just went on about their business.

I wonder how this bunch feels tonight, maher....

You're killing me with the pic MJ. I seriously feel bad for those fans for putting that effort in although some smiling in the pic would have been nice. :)

I'll give them credit and I went from hoping they wouldn't get him ( if we didn't ) to hoping they did because they are where we were with Norm and that's freaking depressing

Although it's tough to see him end up at UCLA, good luck to Kyle Anderson. At the end of the day, UCLA is the better program at the moment and Ben Howland has a proven track record of getting players to the next level.

Just hope Steve Lavin and his staff did not put all their eggs in one basket. Obviously, we're not going to land a top 10 talent this year, but hopefully we have a backup plan.

Well we do have a top 30 recruit and top 100 recruit already coming next year so I don't think we have to worry about all the eggs in 1 basket thing.

If this were the Norm era I wouldn't be sleeping tonight I'd have been so worried about the programs future.

In Lavin I trust

Agreed. As long as he didn't choose another Big East (or whatever conference we wind up in) school, I can't worry about this.

no gloom and doom because we have a first rate staff on board...but if anyone thinks this hasn't been one of the worst weeks we've had in some time they're inhaling way too much nitrous oxide.

A couple of things I will say.

1) I firmly believe that it was UCLA and SJU all along but that he decided on UCLA, like DInkins, said, probably a week or so ago.

2) Norm was not a particular ally of SJU In this recruitment. Not sure it made any difference but he wasn't.

3) The stuff about Kyle not wanting to go away or the stuff about how the HC's needed to be there at EVERY turn for Kyle was also overblown. SHU obviously took it to a new level but Howland was probably the LEAST visible of the 5 coaches.

Good responses so far!

I agree, KA had his mind made up awhile ago, thus no H/V from us. I would bet the ranch that Coach Lavin knew the results beforehand as well.

I also feel bad for the SHU fans. They certainly put a great deal into a last week recruitment effort. Good job, SHU fans! You showed that you care. However, that picture of you all watching KA play needs to go.

They actually have a thread congratulating the Hall Staff. Now no doubt the staff put a great effort onto getting Kyle but I can help but relate that to the Thank You Norm threads we had.

Oh man it's like seeing redmen.com after Norm's 1st year over there right now.

I can predict their future and their future feelings of anger and ineptness which will consume their board in 2 more years

Some posters are coming into the thread--similiar to Redmen--and wondering why Willard and Shaheen are being congratulated. LOL I agree!

IMO, Anderson probably was NEVER going to Seton Hall. Many of those fans allowed themselves to get emotionally invested with this recruitment. Bad move! This one may sting them for a few days or longer.

I find it funny that their fans went balls to the wall, and some even boasted about sending a ton of fans out to Paterson. LOL I wonder if they are going out to Paterson this Wednesday. LOL They ended up being toyed with by Anderson. Actually, they played themselves and got bitten in the end.

I'll also predict that many of their fans will eventually get frustrated and want Willard ousted in a couple of years.

Just a small bump in the road (If that) but we will move along. Plenty of good talent out there and lets not forget the great talent we already have. Were going to be just fine now we can finally focus on the upcoming season

Good luck to him, and congrats to resident UCLA fan.

I look forward to seeing how Kyle's unique skill set translates at the next level.

But honestly, I'm more concerned with the fate of or conference than I am with losing him. Maybe after the conference sorts itself out this recruiting loss will sting a bit, but it doesn't right now.

And this is why, I never believe those who claim that they have inside information, or a source who knows where the a recruit is headed. All it does is get hopes up, and then there's the big letdown. Let's hope we finally learned our lesson.

there will never be an end to bad information from the so-called experts who man the three most popular redmen sites. i've learned not to believe anything until it happens.

Best of luck to KA, the kid and his family made a great choice.
UCLA is a great program with a great coach and a stacked team.
We can talk all we want about KA being the missing link at SJU but at UCLA it truly is the case.
With KA next season and without them getting another recruit they will have to be favored to win it all from the get go. They have the entire package.

Now lets see Plan B for the staff which they no doubt have. Would not be surprised to see the staff get another commitment in the next week or two to take the sting out of loosing KA.

Congratulations to Kyle Anderson. I hate seeing special kids leaving the area but its very tough to argue with his choice. ULCA currently has 5 or 6 starting point guards in the NBA.

Lastly, and I have no idea why, St. John's was out of this race shortly after Kyle's visit to campus.

I also said that night i was praying that my info was wrong.. I usually don't get quality info.. Let's just hope next time i do that it is in our favor :)

Correct. Just glad this KA media game is over. I like our guards. When we play UCLA hopewe do welll. Wish him the best but what bothered me is his waiting game ,think he had to know for some time who he would pick maybe they just wanted the most exposure they could get. Not that fair to the schools since they could have moved on long before the 20th But then again they should have a plan B. Quess we will see how slo-MO fairs in div1
