Knicks

Thank you coach P! In all the disappointment of losing a series we thought we could win, a little perspective like this is most welcome. I am as guilty as any of us Knick fans in losing it during the excitement of the game and criticizing players, but we need to remember we made the conference finals for the first time in 25 years and this team has given us three consecutive years of real playoff excitement. The Knicks and Johnnies are really the only two sports teams I live and die with and believe me for a long suffering Knick fan the last three years have been great.

None of these guys are all of a sudden bums. Indiana was a tough matchup for Brunson in that they could throw both Nesmith & Nemhardt at him and really wear him down but Jalen had a terrific season and was also big getting us to the conference finals. I expect barring a big trade which is hard to imagine given our lack of assets, that we bring the core 7 back and add a couple of better bench pieces who can provided more size and speed off the bench. As I said in another post, draft RJ, sign Kadary and give Aaron a look in summer league lol!

Admirable last sentence .

NCJ: With you on the Johnnies, and was right there living and dying with the Knicks for the years, 12 y.o. to -50 y.o., after hitting 50, my interest in the NBA waned, stayed a Knick fan, but the thrill for the NBA game left me.

Since around 1968 my Johnny fandom never ebbed and flowed; when we were great, good and even when we were awful, I was always there. So the resurgence under Pitino thrills me beyond belief.

Under Tibs, I have gotten much more into the Knicks and I like his defense first pholosophy. A little like Pitino with Defense first. Here is the irony, our last season was ruled by our strong "D", and despite Tibs, the Knicks' "D" is what let them down in the end.

Agree wholeheartdly, this group of Knicks played their asses off and got really far. I'll be rooting for them in the future and having both home MSG BB squads being good to great at the same time I consider a blessing.

Kudos to Pres. Shanley, Ed Kull and our Administration and kudos to Leon Rose and his team for re-establishing these Knicks. Good for JD (of JD and The Straight Shot) for not interfering, but can't say much good about Dolan after watching him slouch through that deposition in the Isiah harassment lawsuit.(n), Plus, get rid of this silly ban of Oak, and banning any lawyer from any law firm who has even thought about suing any MSG enterprise, reeks of Roy Cohn.

That's fascinating given the lack of cap space and the limitations of the CBA. Very hard for them to do anything major unless they are sending out Towns or Bridges.

Sending out Bridges would be a bitter pill to swallow since they aren't getting back 5 firsts for him, that's a sunk cost and they would basically be saying "we are cutting our losses here."

The only other movable parts would be Hart and Mitch, and I don't see either of them moving although I suppose its possible.

Brunson, OG, and McBride aren't going anywhere.

So Towns plus someone for ... Giannis?

McBride’s contract is a steal and has a lot of surplus value.

I have to think they’ll be aggressive for Giannis, but as I’ve contended with, I really think they will have to loop in a third team.

The rumor is that the Suns want to target a center in any Durant trade. Some of the smoke is that Booker and KAT are buddies since their Kentucky days. It would make sense for PHX to prioritize KAT to keep Booker happy. I don’t think KD makes sense for us anymore, but that can be another intriguing three-way deal to be a part of. What could we get from a Houston or San Antonio?

Bad organizations never change their stripes. James Dolan will find a way to screw things up.

I can’t wait for the replacement. All we can do is hope. Or do we get another Fizdale or Hornacek.
This is all Rose. He made the big moves last offseason and the coach never fully adapted to a half court offense with spacing. He still allowed Brunson to bring the ball up and dribble for half the shot clock.

So one minute Shams says "Thibs is safe" and 5 minutes later he says "never mind, Thibs is fired?' Great job, Shams.

FWIW I don't know what more they wanted than beat an up-and-coming Detroit team, beat the defending champs, and then throw everything but the kitchen sink at Indy but lose because your roster got exposed. This was not a Thibs problem, this was a roster/matchup problem. This after they basically kneecapped him by sending out three Thibs-type players (Hartenstein (not their fault, CBA), Randle and DeVincenzo) for two softies in Towns and Bridges. Disgraceful.

I am assuming the hire will be Mike Malone - available, won a championship, comes from the Knicks tree. I like Malone. But I don't think there is any guarantee that he (or anyone other than Spoelstra) could have done more with this team than Thibs did.
