Knicks

After all that, I think it’s time to send KAT packing. Biggest letdown of the series especially with all those mismatches he couldn’t exploit. After that Game 1 disaster, it was always gonna be an uphill climb.

I’m a big Brunson fan, but honestly? Not sure he’s that guy to carry a team to a title. If they’re sticking with the Villanova core, the only one who should be leading that group is Jay. Period.

As for Nesmith—he needed a Pat Bev type glued to him this series to set the tone early: we don’t take shit.

They’re another piece away. I’d go after Kawhi and a solid depth piece. I actually liked what I saw from KL—looked like he finally got that fire back.
Sorry but starting a KAT post with “After All That” made me do it:

I did watch a few minutes of the Knicks - Pacers last night . Only because the Stanley Cup doesn’t start until Wednesday

No question these are great Athletes in the NBA but , for the few minutes I saw , it was organized chaos with a lot of 1 on 1 BB and fouls on nearly every play.
Some were called , a lot weren’t .

I didn’t count them but , saw few number 1 draft picks sitting on the Knicks bench , basically not playing . Achuwia and Kolek . Just saying .
They did get a minute or 2 , at game end .

Other than Brunson , Bridges, Kolek on the Knicks I didn’t see many BE players

Wasn’t Nembard on Creighton a few years ago or , was that his brother ?

Saw a piece by Kevin O’Connor listing RJ as 55 th pick . Don’t know how old or valid that is considered .

And , how come the Knicks Coach looks like he slept in his pajamas and then , wore them to the game ? He’s making Millions , you would think his Wife , if he has one , wouldn’t let him be seen on National TV ,, like that .

Pitino and CMA always dressed classy , I don’t remember Lavin but , I think he was Jacket and Tie .
I’ve seen my 1 and only NBA game . Back to hockey .

There are always many reasons why a team loses. In the Knicks case it’s defense, too many turnovers etc. One thing I haven’t heard mentioned is the “length” issue that was (in my opinion) also a problem oddly enough for St. John’s. Haliburton, Toppin, and especially Siakam were a bad matchup for the Knicks.

Multiple times I thought if only Anunoby had a bigger wing span. Same with Hart who hustles his ass off but he’s just not long enough to finish at times. These guys also harassed Brunson enough for him to get clean looks. Am I crazy maybe? Of course the guy who was successful this series was Mitchell Robinson. His best trait his his length. Arms, size wing span and all.

Lav wore a suit with clean white sneakers. Maybe neuropathy from his prostate issue? Now he’s a trendsetter.

While we are all amateurs on this Site when it comes to evaluating players and what the NBA looks for, I am sorry but your first sentence basically disqualifies you from arguing anything about RJ’s draft status and I barely watch the NBA. I can only go by what the being reported the NBA folks are saying and just basic observations on players game and how it might project in my limited knowledge of the NBA.

As for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, he was only the NBA MVP this year who has averaged double figures in scoring every year in the MBA and more than 19 since his first year. For College reference, played at Kentucky.
The Knicks need a strong tough athletic bench. I would draft RJ in the second round and sign Kadary and Aaron. Sorry to be an STJ fan, but those guys would make a difference.

Is anyone shocked by this report? He seems like a good guy but just never going to “get it” as far as doing the things necessary to be a complete player. If it hasn’t happened yet it never will.

The game against GS was eye opening after Draymond took him to task and all of KAT’s teammates dapped him up after the game rather than have their teammate’s back.

I'd forgive KAT more if he was 22. But he's turning 30. It is just who he is.

These articles are not good for a team hoping to unload the guy in question.
I have my eye on New Orleans. Zion got a very serious lawsuit levied against him and they’ve got new management. They also have two pick swaps with … Milwaukee for 2026 and 2027.

Aside from the optics of the rape accusations, Williamson has never played more than 70 games in a season. Hard pass.

They'll never get anything close to fair value in a trade for KAT. IMHO, best to work on better team defense and communication and add some athleticism to the bench including a 3 and D guy, a sufficient backup for Jalen and a second defensive big (maybe a healthy Hukporti works there).
I saw Ralph318 suggested drafting RJ and looking at adding Kadary & Scott - he was reading my mind. Kadary would be a great backup for Jalen and likely won't get drafted and all of those guys understand switching man to man defense - let them all play on Knick summer league team.

What’s the sense of having a good strong bench (and the Knicks had a decent bench) if the coach won’t use it.

I should’ve been more clear. I think New Orleans would be (and should be) interested in KAT, and Zion could be had. But! It only makes sense in a three-way with Milwaukee for Giannis.

It’d require Giannis making it clear he would only re-sign with us and hard balling his way here.

But for a team that is about to undergo a rebuild, nothing would be more valuable than actual control of their picks.

Could this be enough?
NY: Giannis
NO: KAT, Portis
MIL: Zion, Dadiet, Kolek, reverse pick swap for their ‘26 & ‘27 picks, and #7 in this years draft, plus all of our firsts in whatever way that’s legal

Obviously they can get more in the open market but NY including NO would make their offer better than a KAT for Giannis straight up

I like where your heads at but Bucks (if they’re smart) would demand much more than that. Unfortunately Zion with his injury history and now off the court issues is a really tough asset to figure out currently

Giannis is going to go where he wants to go, and Bucks are pretty powerless. If he doesn't like where the Bucks try to ship him, he simply won't sign an extension. What team is giving up a ton of assets for a year out of him? If it drags into next season the package they get will be even more lopsided.

Do Bucks really want to let him play out his contract and get nothing for him?

I am concerned Nets sneak in with their million draft picks this year, but do they even have any players to package with the picks?
