Sounds like his behavior is improving.Andre Curbelo, quite the stat line tonight.
0 points, 0-2 FG, 2 assists, 2 steals, 4 personal fouls, 5 turnovers. Also two technical fouls that led to his ejection.
Can't help but feel sorry for him. I've spoken to an old teammate of his from hs who said that's not the same guy. Maybe TBI, i don't know. The concussions, subsequent migraines and sensitivity to light all point to brain injury. If so, will he get the help hd needs, or is he just a commodity, value based on his talent only.Andre Curbelo, quite the stat line tonight.

Beast, he is definitely not the same guy. I knew he would require some “high maintenance” but nowhere close to this. Can't help but feel sorry for him. A guy w outstanding lateral quickness
Caroline Ducharme, who was a big recruit for UConn and played very well for them her freshman year, the COVID year, has had a very serious concussion related situation since then, shuffling in and out of the lineup, mostly out. She was completely shut down after a couple of games this year and just recently has even been medically permitted to return to the arena and sit on the bench due to problems with the lights and noise there. Concussions are obviously no joke. The horror stories of ex-football players and the NFLs indifference to head trauma effect played a large part in turning me off to the league.Beast, he is definitely not the same guy. Totally agree. Definitely one of my top three. He did everything extremely well but shoot. An all time LMF favorite.
If only he could shoot....
I don't want to overstate this, but here was a 21 yr old, no family in ny, basically on his own. I spoke with him at the preseason basketball dinner at length, and found him to be a very bright, well-spoken young man.Beast, he is definitely not the same guy. Sent you a PM.I don't want to overstate this, but here was a 21 yr old, no family in ny, basically on his own. I spoke with him at the preseason basketball dinner at length, and found him to be a very bright, well-spoken young man.
His behaviors reasonably drew our ire, but if this is a result of injury, we certainly cared more about the mounting losses than a (pain in the ass) kid.
He is a brilliant basketball player. Some of his drives to the hoop resemble Kolek. Also a deft passer.
Whatever his demons are - emotional or physical disability - or pure immaturity, i hope they resolve and he goes on to a productive career post college and post basketball.
How did you know him?
He was playing out of position at St John'sMcLeod was pigeonholed as a back to the basket player his first 2 seasons by BM. Too bad he wasn’t allowed to showcase his skills facing the basket.
Stanley and King should have be allowed to stay at St John'sO'mer Stanley started, played 25 minutes and scored 17, on 6-8 shots, with four rebounds.
I agree, and no inside info, but I think they were collateral damage.Stanley and King should have be allowed to stay at St John's
They were underclassmen who seemed to be nice kids with a lot of potential
They would have been solid contributors in their latter years at St John's

“The Toss”
Stanley entered the portal as soon as our season ended. I don’t think Anderson had even been fired yet, so he was already out the doorStanley and King should have be allowed to stay at St John's

Speaking of Anderson, does anyone know if his contract dispute has been settled?Stanley entered the portal as soon as our season ended. I don’t think Anderson had even been fired yet, so he was already out the door
He's also not a major conference rebounder. For all his flaws, glad we have Ledlum instead and hope Stanley sticks around Boise.Stanley entered the portal as soon as our season ended. I don’t think Anderson had even been fired yet, so he was already out the door
Not exactly sure how that's what you got from my post.If you don't like reading news about former Johnnies (or in the case of Yaxel almost former Johnnies), might want to skip this thread which happens to be pretty popular because lots of posters do like to keep up with them. At least in my posts, there's no implication that the staff is at fault for not keeping Yaxel or any of the rest of them, I just enjoy seeing kids who either played for us or committed to play for us do well in their post Johnny career. It's as simple as that and not about to stop posting updates on these guys I find interesting.
