Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

OK, I've heard enough. ;) Not specific to any poster nor recent post though the Yaxel talk brought this POV of mine back to the surface.

Kids commit to coaches and then play for those coaches. When the coaches get fired or new jobs there's no allegiance to school anymore if there ever really was. Maybe all the guys some wish were still here or stuck to their commit were disenchanted with the school, turned off by the turmoil and/or loyal to CMA. I know Pitino in any rational mind is an upgrade, but there are so many other variables. What's to say even if Pitino had a more open door that these kids would have stayed or come. Posh's actions seem to indicate he wasn't that interested, and the crickets on Storr, Jones and Stanley last spring indicate the same, could apply to Kolby too. Maybe Rick was told that no one wanted to stay so he posed it as him asking them to leave to get ahead of it. Re the recruits I can believe he let them loose besides Gardner, he probably said "Yaxel who?". PS whatever happened to Harrison Reed?
Also, what if MA was willing to give them more NIL than RP was willing to, or a player saw this as a chance to grab more money and pitino decided better to let them walk than overpay them.

I'm really just saying that the assumption that CRP could have, without admin interference of course, kept any of the departed players or decommits on campus if he wanted to is ultra presumptuous.

I mostly follow two conferences; Big East and Mountain West. Media is saying this is the strongest field the MW has had , since BYU and Utah were still in the conference. The talk is seven out of the 11 schools playing in either the NCAA or NIT. Should be four or five to NCAA.
Boise State is 18-9. O'mer Stanley started last night, played 29 minutes and scored 19, on 8-14, seven rebounds and two assists.
I don't know how Kolby King is doing, but I hoped he would have stuck around and played for Pitino.

He did two years of juco so next year is it for him.
I could definitely be wrong and don’t feel like checking but wasn’t the talk when he was our commit that we would have him for 3 year?

I got excited that he might have two more when I read your post but on the UAB site it says he was a third team juco as a freshman and second team the following season.
