Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

Good grief with the Posh stuff. Please make it go away. Never have I seen such love for such an average basketball player. Its beyond bizarre.
Not bizarre -Posh is an elite defender and defense has been a glaring weakness for us. We're improving, get a few conference wins under our belt and Posh will no longer be talked about.

At this point, every thread gets a Posh mention. We could talk Christmas trees and somehow this board would bring Posh up.

Agree….. if we had a video tribute to every guard that led the team to nothing and then quit, we would be here all day.

Louie had an excellent back up point guard who was far superior to Bobby Kelly, his name was Kevin Williams. It took Louie 1.5 seasons of them playing together for him to start playing Kevin much more than Bobby. Kevin ended up being a second round pick.
Again, blame Louie, not Kelly. I think Louie saw Williams as more a combo guard. I don't remember that far back, but how did we do with Williams at point. Those were NCAA teams, both years.

I can see both sides of the argument in regards to a Posh tribute video. But I think I slightly lean with Jack on this one. Make it a short video, and acknowledge his accomplishments representing our program over the past 3 years. He gave his all here and had a lot of success. I don't see an issue, especially because he likely would have been back if CMA was still here.

That being said. Like Moose pointed out, this program is horrible at acknowledging it's former players.

Kelly was never a behavioral problem, as far as I know. His performance was the problem, as he was the weak link on a very good team, but as I explained before, he injured his knee or ankle after he transferred from Holy Cross to SJU. I was told by an AAU coach who coached against him that the player we saw at SJU was not the player he used to be. I watched him, at MSG vs Cincinnati, when he started in the HC backcourt, with Ron Perry. He was much quicker. Get mad at Louie for not having a better back-up point.
Had ankle reconstruction surgery after Holy Cross. His ankle was huge after every game. They didn’t have arthroscopic ankle surgery back then.
