Keeping Up With Old Friends Thread

So I’m assembling a list of all the rules you guys have shared that makes a player ineligible/eligible for a thank you video:

- you can’t ever play for another team
- you can’t ever be on a bad St. John’s team
- you have to play 4 full years for SJU
- you have to “exceed your expectations as a player” whatever that means (completely subjective)
- you can’t assault someone in a shower (sorry Dylan don’t think I can go on defending you on this one)

What else am I missing? If Mullins Revenge was here he’d add

- you have to be able to shoot LOL

Does your four paragraph response that didn’t answer the question mean you don’t know? Or did Dillon Brooks get a video tribute in college? I think that’s what you are saying?

And I don’t think those of us who want to move on from those that left are the people hung up. We are the ones who want to move on and live in the present.

On the other hand you posted about Posh, and Wusu, neither of who play for SJU or UCONN, in a UCONN/SJU thread.

You asking that question was clearly you insinuating that you think it is unprecedented and therefore should not be done. If you could just own that we could save some time here.

Ironic that you’re “hung up” on my hung up comment. I only said that because Posh transferring out from SJU is the main rebuttal to my point that he deserves a thank you video. I was challenging that point because.. that’s how a debate/discussion works. You make a counterpoint

As for your last note about it being a UConn/SJU thread, I’d have no problem with the tribute/thank you video discussion being its own thread and the mods can move it if they’d like. It only originated here because Alleyne is returning to UConn Saturday and it got me thinking about thank you videos
 
I feel that if you transfer out, you have cut ties to SJU. Show tribute videos of our current players. I see no need to stroke the egos of those that have gone on to other schools. If they left to go pro, that’s a different story.

I am being ridiculous? I am not insinuating anything. I believe it is unprecedented and can’t imagine that the first video tribute in the history of college basketball would be done for a player from last years SJU team. That seems, I don’t know, ridiculous? You still haven’t given an example of another tribute.

Look, I have nothing against you, go nuts, I’m done here. I see the mods have tossed this all where it belongs now, so that’s good and thank you to them.
 
In tribute to Posh SJU will have an "all you can steal" night at all concessions. Wusu will be hired to guard them and assault all would be thieves.

That covers all. 😀

Oh Willie Glass declined to provide a film of Posh' best off the court moments.

Posh and Wusu both PHDs - passionate, hungry, departed.

I too found it a fascinating discussion - particularly your musing that UConn might do a tribute video to Alleyne. He spent one year there, coming off the bench, then transferred to us. Everyone deserves a trophy. (And I say that as someone who likes Alleyne a lot.)

I hear this, but I feel like when a coach gets fired, it’s a different story. You commit to play for a coaching staff, if the coaching staff is fired and you transfer, I don’t really view it as a diss on St. John’s.

I will add Lovett to the top of that list. Big time talent but from everything posted here the kid was able to play and chose to walk on the team which was essentially built around him and Ponds.
