Justin Simon Has Committed

anyone see the PSA Cardinals coach calling us out on Twitter. What the hell is up with that

I just saw that particular tweet. That is one of a few reasons why I don't care where our recruits come from, per their locale. Some people are so, caught up in NYC recruits, when it doesn't matter where they come from, as long as they can play ball, IMO.

This staff has shown themselves all over the area, and this is what they get in return. Now, I know the PSA coach doesn't speak for all the area coaches, but it just reiterates one of the reasons why I wouldn't care about having a team of mainly out-of-towners.

By the way, solid job by the staff, per landing Clark and Simon. If they nab Livingston, and things break our way during the season, then we could find possibly find ourselves amongst the top 6 teams in the Big East.

I was thinking 14/15 wins next year, but add Livingstone an d we're probably top6 in the B.E. 18-19 wins could get us into the NIT as Redmennorth said.

I'd say Sima is our C, Livingston PF, Yakwe SF, Lovett PG, Ellison SF (Unless Ponds just tears it up in practice.)
We'll have a nice bench too.

Welcome Justin, looking forward to watching you play.

Then who sit, Yakwe or Livingston? I'd guess Livingston.

I think Livingston will get a lot of time at the 4 and 5. We need a big beefy guy to go up against some of the trucks we come across

I really want this kid on our team

If he doesn't break it or tase it he can ride it

I think Livingston would start over Sima.

I think Sima still gets the start, but it'll be a good balance of minutes between Sima, Yakwe, and Livingston. I think Owens will need to constantly be reassured that he's in the bigger picture, but minutes might be lower this season than he expected when he signed on.

Good dilemma to have.

I see livingston and Sima sharing the center role. Yakwe and Owens at PF. Bashir and Freudenberg at SF, though Freudenberg can play both spots. We have a lot of options up front which is good.

Yakwe seems like a good energy guy to be the 6th man type. What I would do anyway

Yakwe is no 6th man. He's a bonafide starter. Kid is immensely talented and not a kid that is going to be a bench guy much. Kid double-doubled against Big East Tourney champs and he got late start in season. He's gonna be a star if he can get his jump shot more reliable.

Could Fruedenberg play the 2, yeah I know he's 6'9, but against schools with height imagine a 5 on the floor of:
Sima , Yakwe, Ahmed/Livingston, and Fruedenberg (he could shoot right?), as a Shooting Forward.

I'd experiment with that in the ooc games only against big lineups just to see how it goes. If Fruedenberg does well, then you got something for in conf games.

Minutes played is key factor, not who starts. Yakwe will get max time rest assured, starter or not. I happen to think he will, but would not get caught up in the starter issue.

I like Yakwe as much as anyone but he is doing everything on athletic ability and hustle which RIGHT now would be great as 1st guy off the bench. Again not a knock on Yakwe just saying that he would be more useful as a 6th man than say Sima.

Yes Knight
Nice "problems" to have = quality options
As opposed to the no options CM inherited
:)

Just my two cents... but even if Livingston comes aboard .... Yakwe is the most talented guy on the team and will play starters minutes. Mcnpa paultz and others are spot on about that.

And I think Ahmed may be our "best" player next year. Somewhere in between DJ and Dom Pointer skills wise from what I've seen and heard.

When you think about it in the next two years we will finally have at least 9 or 10 players who will get plenty of playing time instead of the usual 7 to 8. That spells competition amongst our players, plus not so much worry about anyone getting in foul trouble. Good job Mullin and staff.

Oh you say that now. The shoe will eventually drop. This is St John's

In this scenario, I think you let Ahmed play the 2 and RF play the 3 with 2 of the 3 of Sima, Yakwe, and Livingston playing the 4 and 5.

Yes offensie(shooting) to be great player must improve. But that is something which can be done with hard work and a great staff. Seems all the ingredients are there.

Though Sima needs a lot of work was thinking perhapsOwens surprises us and sima backs him up
