Jordan Status?

This reminds me of when DLo was suspended earlier in his career. Everyone on here was saying he was gone and never coming back. They were all ready to write him off as being part of SJU. And we all know how they ended up working out.

So before we all start speculating on what will or will not happen, lets just relax and see how it all plays out.....

He is gone.

Just like Dangelo was gone to Houston? And remember how you said Lavin was gone at the end of last season? Yea, I read johnny jungle occasionally you troll. Go back there please and thank you

I don't see them as being the same and this stuff makes me appreciate DLO even more.

I dont blame Lavin for laying down the law with Jordan but a shorthanded roster most definitely falls on his shoulder as coach and ceo of the program

Got home a little while ago from the CTK-Molloy game. Rawle as usual a man amongst boys. Anyhow as others have said, this is disappointing but not surprising. There have been warning signs including his demeanor as recently as at the SH game. Based on reports from Paultz, I assume we'll never see the likes of him again. Good bye and good luck.

Just to be clear. I am not certain how long the "leave" will be for. Since the problem has festered I just don't see a quick return.

What you have to love about rooting for this team is the way it keeps you guessing. A little over 48 hours ago, you could draw up a way for there to be two Top 10 teams playing in the Garden Tuesday night. Now a tricky game just got a lot trickier tomorrow and you can draw up a way for there to only be one ranked team playing in the Garden Tuesday night, with the unranked team without one of its two most talented players and returning to its bread and butter under multiple regimes the last 10 years: the 5 man rotation! WE ARE!

Bingo. At the end of the day he is the manager of the program.

So you think he will be back?

It doesn't matter what I think. What matters is you and I have no idea yet you are trying to pass some random statement off as factual. No one knows as of now if he will be back, although I do have reporters of the team such as roger Rubin saying he probably will be. So you posting "he is gone" is just trolling and stupid.

Thanks for clarification Paultz. I guess we'll see what happens when school is back in session. I think its fair to assume that if he's not back in class at some point early in to the semester, then we'll likely not see him again. Time will tell.

I gotta believe there's a good chance he's back again this season.
Staff is coaching for their jobs, and the seniors want to win badly.
This may have needed to happen, after all you can only out up with his nonsense for so long. But neither of these groups will stand on principle and let this team play the full confconference schedule under-manned.

Interesting points.

Even if I cast no blame on anyone in this situation, I find myself asking a basic question, should this program be much more stable? Is there anything that can be done to reduce the instability that seems to plague us? If this is the norm, so be it. I can then find another diversion. If it is not, how can we get to a less volatile level & who is responsible for accomplishing that? My desire is to root for a team that has a minimum of drama, continuity, competes for a BE championship annually & goes to the Dance more often than not. As things stand, I have a hard time believing we will achieve that status. It seems like we get headed in the right direction only to be derailed. "Always something" could be our motto.

I can say one thing. There are an awful lot of lurkers exploding back onto this site in sardonic glee over his unfortunate turn of events. Until we have more details, those of you who have thrown this back onto Lavin should just keep your mouths shut. In hindsight, there has been universal praise for how the Harrison suspension has worked out. Many have said even if Harrison the ballplayer didn't work out, the transformation of Harrison the person warrants Lavin getting credit - and they are right. To start crapping on Lavin the same day a suspension is handed out without knowing a single fact is both hypocritical and reactionary. It's somewhere between distasteful and disgusting in my book.

That being said, I've maintained all along that any story about a complete, successful SJU march to the NCAA tourney and beyond would have included an important positive contribution by Jordan. So, whatever the reason, justified or not, temporary or permanent, arbitrary or not, the possibility or probability of completing the season without Jordan just destroys our season prospects with or without blame.

I've been saying this for awhile, St. John's is a tough sell to get kids to come here. This isn't the 80's anymore, things have changed so much in college BB since then. Of course Lavin gets the blame, but it's almost like he's got to take a chance on imperfect kids. I would wonder what realistic coach we could bring in here that could do a better recruiting job. At least Lavin has us in the running for the top talent. Norm was supposed to be an expert recruiter, and look how badly he failed at it.

*Edit: I don't want to make this seem like a Lavin defense. I'm not happy at all with the way he's seemingly taken recruiting periods off and put our future in a lot of doubt.

I just feel bad for the guys. Plain and simple.
We can rant and rave about how this always happens, about Lavin this and Lavin that, but at the end of the day, the guys this hits the hardest are the hard-working, committed young men who have dedicated themselves this season to reaching the NCAA's and making their mark. The best thing we can do is redouble our support for them, show up at more games, yell louder, and pray for their success. Lavin's fate, next year's roster, whether Rysheed returns, are all out of our control. Let's focus on now, on this team, on these guys who have given their all and grown as players and men. I want to see D'Angelo Harrison, arms raised, exulting at big victories, and I want to see this starting five walking on to the court for their first NCAA tournament game. These guys deserve it.

So well-said. Stability is the key and has largely escaped us for two decades now. There are others who deal with as much, and even a few that deal with more, but while all programs have some issues these days we are definitely on the volatile end of the curve, and at some point there has to be a solution. I refuse to believe that everybody eligible, 5 best players starting, next 3-4 off the bench, no suspensions/disruptions, with an NCAA bid is only an every 4-5 year thing. That can be achieved year over year with some regularity.

In the interim, I really hope this is just a bump in the road and gets resolved so that the fans and more importantly the seniors can enjoy this season.
