Jordan Status?

Phil had warts as a player and has been asked to do to much quite often, which is due to poor coaching and recruiting. But IMO he is a kid worth rooting for. Polar opposite of Jordan, who is the most difficult SJU player I've ever had to root for (granted I'm fairly young). Put Phil's head, work ethic and approach with Jordan's talent and we would have an all american.

If that were the case, Jordan would lead the nation in field goals attempted.

And also tie for the national lead in no practices skipped.

Tom I agree he takes some bad shots and shoots too much. The latter is sometimes because we need him to shoot. But he hasn't pulled anywhere near the crap in 4 years that Jordan had in a year and a half, and overall Phil had been a good ambassador.

Rawle Alkins tweeted this photo of a column in the Post about him. Not good for him to see that right below the article above it.

Funny - I saw him play last night and his game reminds me a little of Jordan's.

He's 18, correct?

18 or 19, whatever. That isn't a kid anymore, stop babying him.
He's starting to become a young man, time to start growing up alittle.
Enough is enough.

Theo seems like a good guy. Rysheed, on the other hand, is a dumb ass, and I'll be glad when he goes home the day after the last game and we never have to hear from him again. Might be my least favorite player in 30+ years of fandom.

My least favorite player of the last 25 years is D'Angelo Harrison.

Because of that I'll give Jordan some time before I decide.

I thought Tom was referring to Rawle's age.

Rawle is similar in many ways, including being a little self-centered, cocky, and needing tutors at CTK to keep eligible. I don't think he has much interest in SJU and is a typical CTK kid who thinks of leaving NYC rather than staying local.

I'm talking on the court only.
Greene is just so selfish.

That is the whole dilemma Beast. We are so much better with Jordan playing even halfway decent and doing some of what a PG should do but still being a threat to score. The failure to recruit another scorer or playmaking guard has led to this. So we root for the kid to play well even though we are sick of the nonsense. Help the seniors and Chris have a nice end to the season and then see Ya later.

He can simply execute some things that no one else on our squad is capable of. His court vision is excellent. He sees guys in transition streaking ahead of the field and leads them. He can spot a crack in the defense and create easy shots for teammates in the halfcourt game. When he makes outside shots he is no fluke, and when he makes good decisions around the hoop can do amazing things. Sometimes he grabs a rebound and with his length I swore it was Pointer. Flawed at this point, but by end of season could be playing alike a junior, and if we are still alive could be very dangerous.

You need to speed up the decision-making process -- you only have until March.

Good post beast, though I never felt the same negative way towards Dlo as you did, many posters did. It is easy to forget that plenty of posters were ready to send dlo packing. Now he's a bucket away from 2,000 points and a good February away from the ncaa tourney. I don't believe that Jordan has been a model teammate this last year and a half, but I do think his negatives have become a bit exaggerated.

Agreed, but IMO Jordan more finesse and Rawle more power. Assume CTK won against HC? Toying with going to CTK-Iona prep game tonight, but feeling a bit lazy right now. Last night I was at a tripleheader at my daugher's school. It was the school's annual Sports Night so the stands were packed. Standing room only. Girls varsity(my daughter is on the team) won by 20. In the last game of the night, a marathon double OT game, the boys varsity beat their crosstown archival Columbia Prep in one of the most exciting games at any level that I've ever attended. Kids rushed the court in celebration.. Give me a good high school or college game any day over a pro game.

Know he's older than his class. Think he's either 18 or 19.

CTK won by five. HC played pretty well and led at halftime.

CTK - Iona Prep is worth seeing.
