Jordan Status?

I'm not that hard on Jordan and am rooting for him big time. Being a teenager I can almost guarantee that Jordan didn't have any homophobic intent when sending the tweet. It is still wrong and it is time for him to start growing up.

At the same time I think there's been some serious overreaction to the incident, fans over on the friar board saying they think today should've been his last game ever at SJU.

Rysheed is a very good player and we need him at his best for us to make the tournament. So I suggest the constant bashing should cease at this point, we need the guy whether you like him or not.

He seems like a good guy who the seniors all seem to like and for that I'm not gonna join in on the bashing. I think he is very immature on social media but I know first hand who you showcase yourself as online and who you are actually are are two completely different things. Trust me when I say that, in this day and age every body basically has two identities, their actual ones and their online ones.

Here's to sheed helping SJU making the tournament! Go SJU

Very very well said. I do agree that saying the three letter f-word doesn't mean someone is homophobic. With that said, he is a pubic figure and needs to be smarter than that (and the worse tweet of challenging someone to a fight) and SJU needed to do a better job of monitoring the guy who they knew was their loosest cannon.

Rawle Alkins tweeted this photo of a column in the Post about him. Not good for him to see that right below the article above it.

Funny - I saw him play last night and his game reminds me a little of Jordan's.

Agreed, but IMO Jordan more finesse and Rawle more power. Assume CTK won against HC? Toying with going to CTK-Iona prep game tonight, but feeling a bit lazy right now. Last night I was at a tripleheader at my daugher's school. It was the school's annual Sports Night so the stands were packed. Standing room only. Girls varsity(my daughter is on the team) won by 20. In the last game of the night, a marathon double OT game, the boys varsity beat their crosstown archival Columbia Prep in one of the most exciting games at any level that I've ever attended. Kids rushed the court in celebration.. Give me a good high school or college game any day over a pro game.

CTK won by five. HC played pretty well and led at halftime.

CTK - Iona Prep is worth seeing.

Iona Prep is a ridiculously fun team to watch. Their PG Ty Jerome who is headed to UVA makes it look very easy.

Yeah I know Coach Palladino .. he is a Regis guy. I dont know if you have had any interaction with Dr. Ross but she is great and you guys are lucky to have her as Principal.

So you were just helping everybody out by using the school's hashtag to monitor the player, right?

Of course Providence kids would say that. They are all a bunch of .fa?s*

I meant to type fans.

Figured you might have a Regis connection. Dr. Ross is wonderful. We are indeed lucky to have her. Regis varsity team is rock solid this year. Was at Xavier-Regis triple header last week. JV has a sharpshooter (6'-6'1") who really impressed me and will do extremely well on varsity next year. Loyola has a 6'1" kid-a Junior- who scored 35 yesterday. Kid plays like he was born with a ball in his hand. If he can grow some more, he may be a low D1 prospect, but that's a big if. He'll likely wind up as the all-time leading scorer at Loyola when he's done, and play D3 ball. You play ball at Regis? .

i played soccer at Regis... they had no use for a 5'8 point guard with limited jump shooting ability.

a non Regis or Xavier person at the tripleheader.. you must have sneaked in cause I know those tickets were very hard to come by.

hopefully we will get to meet someday at a game.

I am a Xavier alum. Go to the tripleheader most years. I have good friends who have one son on Regis varsity and another on Xavier JV. They score me a ticket every year. Ha. Next year they'll both be on varsity. It'll fun watching them go at each other.

Highly respect Regis grads. I would actually like them if they weren't so damned smart. :)

Son went to Xavier, was an Ignatian Scholar - honors program. Most of their kids are smart - like Monte.

PS IMO The Xavier-Regis annual tripleheader is one of the best high school sporting events in the city, in spite of the fact that most people are not aware of it. Much like the Xavier-Fordham Prep Turkey bowl. Went to Xavier with Pete Gorynski the long time Football coach at Fordham and his brother Leo, who was in my grade. You go to Regis with any of leo's boys? Ok at some point soon we'll have to take this to PM. Ha.

Haha. Thanks Beast. Only wish I was half as smart as your kid. Truth be told, Xavier must have had an off year when they decided to accept me ;)

I am a Regis grad and I work at the school now. Who do you know on the Regis team?

I know Leo and Pam and the boys very well. Mike and Paulie were both there since I have been and Bobby had just graduated.

I have said for years that the Regis-Xavier game does not get enough credit. Unfortunately the two schools do not produce enough talent on the court for the papers to cover it. I dont think either school has had a D1 player since Xavier had Nick Hendra about 6 years ago.

He's 18, correct?

18 or 19, whatever. That isn't a kid anymore, stop babying him.
He's starting to become a young man, time to start growing up alittle.
Enough is enough.

I was asking about Alkins' age.

Know he's older than his class. Think he's either 18 or 19.

Think he is 19, that is old for a junior. He should dominate then, that makes him a 20 frosh.

I will say this, there is far more excitement in the Xavier gym for that triple-header than any CTK game I've ever been to. While the talent level doesn't compare, the rivalry is intense, often pitting friend against friend and sometimes brother against brother. The fans of both teams are totally in to it. Love the chants also. Just sent you a PM

Very much off track but worth posting. There are a handful of Regis grads on the Xavier faculty. Matthew Thomas is a recent one I can think of, who just published the highly acclaimed novel, "We are not ourselves" based in part on his own experiences with a father who suffered from early onset Alzheimers that went undiagnosed in the initial stages. . Pretty certain PSK938 is aware of that book. I'll take ti to PM also.

Was just talking about that book with my friends who have sons at Xavier and Regis. They read the book and said it was amazing. Will read at some point. Brings to mind Tuesdays with Morey, another wonderful book. There's a lot of cross-over of faculty between Xavier/Regis/Loyola, and to a lesser degree Fordham Prep. Peter Gorynski, the long time football coach at Fordham Prep is one example. Xavier grad and then football coach, before heading over to FP. I may have mentioned this to you before, but Fr. Mike Sehler was my English teacher at Xavier many many years ago and right out of the seminary. He is now my Daughter's Latin teacher at Loyola. As PSk mentioned, Dr. Kristen Ross was asst principal at Regis before becoming principal at Loyola this year. The Jesuits like to keep it "in house". While Regis is certainly the per-eminent Catholic school in the city, if not the country, IMO the large majority of Xavier kids do just as well in life after high school. PSK may disagree ;)
