Jordan Status?

It's either you guys are old or just lost touch with reality. Calling someone a f*g, g*y does not have to imply that he is ani-gay or whatever else you are accusing him of.
Is it politically correct? No. These guys are 18-20 years. Young, wild, and yes stupid as most of us were. Walk down the street today and you will hear friends calling each other a f*g, g*y. Please stop deciphering every single tweet a kid posts. I have a feeling some of you want the program to fail as much as it can instead of supporting it.

To me calling someone that homophobic slur gets you suspended. It's 2014 you ingrate bum. I'm gonna miss DLO, Dom and CO to an extent, but that;s not enough for me to bite my tongue saying I can't wait to clean house. Been an abysmal 4 years.

It's really funny though how the media gives a pass to famous liberals, such as Alex Baldwin, who have used homophobic slurs when challenging an adversary's manhood. It's flat out dumb to use social media for such language, and Jordan is far from the first person in the public eye to do so. However, if you were going to ban everyone who has ever used a homophobic slur in conversation from Redmen.com, I'd be willing to venture that there wouldn't be many users left standing. Not that it justifies using that sort of language, but more in the category of he who is without sins.

My guess is that calls for Jordan's exit is mightily hypocritical. Had we raced to a 6-1 big east start and beaten Duke with Jordan leading the charge, there would be more tolerant response.

If Lavin suspended Jordan for this behavior under those circumstances and in doing so, jeopardized the season's success, I'd bet the sentiment would be to boot Lavin, not Jordan.

Not defending Jordan nor Lavin. Jordan should hand over his password and suspend the account immediately, but the bigger outcry is fueled by losing.

Losing certainly doesn't help the situation, but that doesn't diminish the poor decisions Sheed has made and continues to make. Having said that, if Sheed actually posted this I'm not the least bit shocked by it. We all know he's very immature and has been allowed to beat to his own drum, probably from as far back as the first time he picked up a basketball. Also the two offensive terms that he used have sadly become part of the vocabulary of many kids of his generation. And lastly, he's not the first kid and he won't be the last to make poor decisions when posting on social media. And that includes my 2 kids.......and after multiple warnings about the consequences of those actions. Like you, I'm not giving Sheed a pass, and the fact that he is in the public eye certainly magnifies his poor choices, but lets all remember who we're dealing with here. Sheed, like many kids, is a work in progress. Some kids need more work than others.

One more nail in the coffin...

I still think 'Sheed has a ton of talent and potential, but I'd be surprised to see him play for us again. Between the injury, his attitude and this type of nonsense, there seems to be little upside in the relationship for either side.

Racial/homophobic/sexist tweets & challenging someone to a fight

Is this really Jordan or is it one of his entourage? I find it disturbing to think that the kid could be that monumentally stupid.
I was shocked when I heard Jordan was a 5star player. He doesn't know how guards are supposed to play the game. Do you think he watched the senior Branch last night and tried to learn from his play. Jordan should be playing behind Branch and be playing 20 minutes a game. If he does not like it he can walk and that would be doing the new coach a favor. So many young guards around the country that know how to play the game when they hit the court. What a disappointment he has been highlighted by the stupid N.B.A. talk.

Jordan is an exponentially better player than Branch. Jordan should have been starting every game, he should have been a pivotal part of the team's success this year. The fact that that hasn't played out is a major reason for the failure of this team this year. I'm not saying Jordan is without fault, by the way.
p,not sure I got your post right. Did you say that Jordan was a major reason for the way the season has gone? He has gotten a ton of playing time.

Fair points Monte. What bothers me is rumblings of his continued non compliance on several levels, including splitting to Philly as he desires. Bending rules for him, if so, may not be helpful to anyone. Hope he pulls it together for his future more than anything, but am having a hard time being optimistic about that.

Things started going off the rails for Jordan when he lost his starter's position. At the start of conference play, his minutes against Seton Hall and Nova were well below average, as was his production. He missed Butler altogether and the reasons why still remain hazy. He finally started to get things going again last few games, but the damage has already been done IMO.

Since I am one of the few that doesn't twitter I miss the Jordan rants but reading the Rabinowitz screen shots is it safe to assume he is arguing with a Philly rival over some girl? I am confused. If so, other than some social media rules, why do his ramblings upset anyone? On the surface it appears he has girlfriend issues in Philly that have distracted him and this kid seems to get distracted easily. The language he uses is his everyday street slang and I hear it every day on the NYC subway. I am more concerned he doesn't use this injury to forgo class to be with his bitch. If that is more important to him than being with his team then just write this kid off as another bad Philly experiment.

Perhaps Jordan is lost at St. John's? All of the other key players are older and more mature.

Who's that from??? Lavin?? Monasch??Another out of the loop poster???

It makes a difference, you know.

I think it's funny that some of the same people who make fun of Adonis, Chris Christie and others for their weight are horrified by the supposed political incorrectness of a 3 letter word a college kid tweets. Hypocrites.

And what about calling a woman "his b*tch" and then challenging someone to a fight? His twitter account and hes a scholarship basketball player at a major school. There also appears to be inconsistent discipline as it applies to social media when it comes to Rysheed. Maybe this is the type of thing thats indicative of a culture issue in the program and why Rysheed feels he can leave the team to go to Philly whenever he pleases.

Probably listened to too many rap songs. Better having a guy who makes somewhat offensive tweets than a guy like Artis who some are hoping for despite his being an alleged rapist.

Nonsense, things started going off the rails with Jordan the moment he stepped on campus. As much as you have to give Lavin legitimate credit for Harrison's turn-around, so he has to take blame for the way he has enabled Jordan almost from day one.

I think it's more been a very unstable combination of both enabling and punishing him. eg- Lavin suspended him early on last season, didn't start him in the season opener against the Hoyas, etc. This year, he pulled Jordan out of the starter rotation. But then he's apparently letting him skip to Philly at will, go on Twitter, etc. It's a helter skelter approach to didcipline. Which doesn't tend to work well with teenagers.

If you are dumb enough to use the word you are subjected to being called a homophobe. And please let's not compare the strife of gay people who still don't have equal rights to people who are overweight. Go back and read what you wrote to see how delusional/misinformed you are

I understand many of you are older, so trust it coming from someone around these kids age. This isn't anything out of the ordinary. I'd actually be surprised to see someone not use these terms on Twitter these days. It's nothing to really think about and is seen all day on social media. These tweets are getting blown way out of proportion.

Inconsistent discipline and expectations has been reflected on the floor and in the teams results.

I've hard gay people use the f** word to each other in anger. Is that the moral equivalent of blacks using the n word to each other but off limits to heterosexual men and women?

"Strife of gay people who still don't have equal rights", pretty funny. Not sure what equal rights people that choose that lifestyle don't have but it seems like they are celebrated all over the media. Many act like it's not cool to be straight these days. As far as homophobic statements, some may classify yours as worse than Jordan's, such as saying that PG IV has no balls and that Duke "ran train" on St. John's. If you are going to have a problem with some insensitive remarks, you shouldn't pick and choose.
