Jon Scheyer

Cragg has an open job.
Would be nice of Cragg to drum up interest in Scheyer
As agents often do as well. You never know who plants interest pieces and for what purpose.
Zaun is a travel agent specializing in the greater Phoenix area and his interest pieces have added 5% to his sales. Also, the North Shore real estate market is on the uptick.

My quote makes as much sense.
Scheyer is a white guy who played at Duke doesn't need any help.
Your quote makes no sense
But carry on
That was the point. Neither did yours.
I really can't believe Scheyer is a realistic choice. Hopefully he isn't. Jeez wasn't happy about Hurley but now I would sign up for Bobby SR or even MRS Hurley

I’m not advocating for Scheyer, but I will defend him as clearly a better hire than Roberts. Scheyer is a risk as he has never been a head coach. Roberts was a known disaster who was 24-84 at Queens College as a head coach. Hiring Roberts was not a risk it was the college basketball equivalent of tanking. Unless it is an attempt at trolling I can’t believe anyone is comparing any candidate to him.

Imagine if Cluess was 24-84 at Post. Would he be a candidate? That’s Roberts.
So sitting next to Ferret face on team with 10 HS Cheeseburger All Americans makes you a desirable choice? Not for me. HARD PASS!!!
Read what I wrote again. There is a big difference between a desirable choice and Norm Roberts. But you know that

Honestly outside of Pitino who isn't really a choice, these are all bad choices. Need to make best worst choice. To me Scheyer is Norm level bad choice.

Never said he was a choice. It's drumming up interest. But you pull out the race card where you could have just said he's a Duke assistant he needs no help. I've never turned down help in my career if someone offered.

By being mentioned as a candidate it raises profile just a little bit more. So when he moves on. This year, next year whatever he has a little more clout.

Again probably more deserving people that could use a hand getting a job. Mediocre white guard plays for Duke, immediately becomes assistant coach when he graduates, then gets coaching job or ESPN gig. Scheyer career path was laid out as soon as he committed to Duke.

You love movies too WASJU.

Like in Major League. They win two in row. Lou Brown says that's called a Winning Streak.

IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE.

If I were going to compare ST Johns since Lou left to a movie it would probably be the Ned Beatty scene in Deliverance.

Do want me to name the endless list of annoying Duke white players that have graced the Duke bench?
I compare everyone to Chris Mullin so yes mediocre ;)

Umm...why? Race has absolutely zero to do with anything regarding our coaching search.

OP said possibly Scheyer name is being floated out is just a way to get Scheyer name out there. Point was every crappy former white player at Duke seems to get a coaching job somewhere so he probably does not need the help. Nothing to do with ST John's other than might be the next former coach

To be fair, why isn't Nate James getting any attention? The guy has been an assistant coach since 2009 and is also the associate head coach.

Personally, I don't want either one of them, but hiring Jon Scheyer would be an insult considering he's only been coaching since 2014. How about he takes a page out of Baker Dunleavy's book and coaches at a school like Quinnipiac for a few years? He hasn't earned a job in the Big East yet.

Your comments about a crappy “white” player is ridiculous. I don’t care what color he is and if you think his 4 year stats are crappy then apparently you type without thinking or checking. I’m pretty sure we would’ve loved to have a player of his caliber.

I stand by crappy
But honestly I vaguely even remember him so at least he wasn't a floor slapper. Those guys I remember.

Repole Arena sounds good to me.
