Jermaine Lawrence

Seton Hall not going after Lawrence, apparently. He's got to be ours.

Seton Hall will not pursue Cincinnati transfer @mainestory , source tells @SNYtv . He's visiting Hofstra today.

They were never going to be a player for him anyway.

They could have said they won’t be pursuing Malik Newman either!!!

I'm a bit surprised that they chose not to, but good news nonetheless. I guess the only other wildcard would be Rutgers, because I don't see him going mid-major.

Rutgers = mid-major regardless of their conference affiliation.

@NYPost_Brazille: I'm told Jermaine Lawrence visit to Hofstra went great. Plan is to visit Iona, Manhattan and St John's before making decision. #sjubb

No visit set yet, but continuous dialogue between Jermaine Lawrence camp and St John's. #sjubb

Right, but if they don't make it to the Dance next year, a head coaching job might be available.

@AdamZagoria: Cincy transfer @mainestory will visit Iona tomorrow after Hofstra today
I'm feeling confident once he looks at those 2 campuses. lol

At this rate he should have this thing wrapped up in a few days. Since all of these campuses are within about a 20 mile radius of his home these visits are simple day trips.

Since he didn't consider any of these programs except SJU when he was a prep player he would need to visit them if he is going to consider them.

Do any of these programs concern you?
Does he have ties to anyone on any of these staffs?

Would be ignorant of us not to be concerned. If I'm the Hofstra coach I say to JL, "you want a similar situation to that of UC? Go to St John's."

Not sure if the family situation was the preeminent reason or his role at UC. The answer to that question is the answer to where he ends up IMO,

Playing with a pg like Jordan and playing Syracuse, Duke and in the pre season NIT would give him plenty of exposure. Plus Maui next season not bad.

But it's not a similar situation to Cincy. Not in the least. Different conference, different PT situation, different roster makeup. Not similar in the least.

Marcus, totally agree with your take ... but I also agree with the idea that it would be ignorant of us to write off other local programs as having zero chance of landing him. As a long-time fan, I've seen far too many improbabilities regarding recruiting come to pass.

Handler is the wild card. Hopefully she sees the benefits of SJU outweighing those other local programs. I believe we get him, but any process with her involved may defy logic. I was told yesterday that Lavin is working hard on preparing for potential appeal. Tea leaves look positive in my opinion for getting him. An appeal is always a crap shoot, but the rationale seems reasonable. Fingers crossed.

How much influence does she really have now considering she steered him to a program that clearly didn't work out?

She is the only reason he did not sign with SJ so she screwed him once already. If he lets it happen again we would be better off than having that kind of baggage around the program. Kid needs time to develop and it would be like getting Jakarr back without the hops or offense.
