Jermaine Lawrence

I think we'll have this wrapped up by next weekend. I also think he will be eligible immediately.

Then I think we make the NCAAs next spring.

I don't agree or disagree, I'm just curious, why do you think getting Lawrence puts us from out of the tournament to into the tournament?

@NYPost_Brazille: Jermaine Lawrence has received release from Cincinnati per source. Iona, Manhattan, Rutgers, St John's, Seton Hall, Hofstra Fordham on list

FWIW:

@AdamZagoria: Jeylani Dublin, a 6-6 graduate transfer from Longwood, has committed to Iona, source tells @SNYtv. Averaged 10 & 5. Has 1 yr left.

Because I think we need an extra scorer, to replace Sampson and Sanchez. I think Lawrence is actually more skilled offenisvely than Jakarr. Lawrence can put the ball on the deck and get to the rim. He simply has more moves offensively. I'm very high on him. Was high on him coming out of HS. I think he has had some injuries that have limited what we've seen him be able to do recently. At this time two years ago he was absolutely blowing up. Rising up the rankings as fast as anyone in the '13 class. Multiple people were saying he had one and done potential. But then a wrist injury plagued his senior year, and he was hurt and stuck behind upperclassmen at Cinnci this past season.

I'm not worried about Hofstra but I'll be the first to admit I was disappointed in Hofstra's coaching hire but they have their best recruiting class in a while coming in and it looks like they just might turn things around.

Would be fun to go to some of their games again after work

But no way do they stand a chance of getting JL

I have to believe Lawrence will definitely be out to prove he's a better player then what he showed at Cinci. He's got to know he will be starting at St. John's and playing in the world's most famous arena. You know you want to come home to us.

With Sampson and Sanchez out of the picture, it's practically a no-brainer for him.

lol, just shared that to show Iona got another forward/3 that is eligible immediately, so that might factor in to Lawrence not wanting to go there.

That is one of the reason's I love transfers...a lot of them come in with huge chips on their shoulders. He sounds like Sampson 2.0 to me, but having a kid like Thomas around will lessen the blow of four that wants to be a three.

Plus, not many guys end up making the NBA after TWO transfers so Lavin (or whatever coach) will have some leverage. Fall in line, son. Hit the glass and play defense and JL and Marillac will get along just fine.

I usually agree with your comments
But, we'll disagree about the Hofstra coach
I think Mihalich was a great hire and will make Hofstra competitive again at their level
He has done a very good job recruiting and should have a better season next year

So Zach’s source named just about every program in the Tri-State area…ha ha!!!

Left out St Francis
Glenn Braica is a great recruiter

I agree I think they will be good next year. Looks like he was a good hire now. Would be nice to get a little juice over there since I work so close
