Cincy as a team were poor shooters but JL was one of the worst on the team which also limited his minutes. High school to college was a culture shock to him.

Agree the transition was difficult. That said in latter stages of AAU career he shot well from outside. I certainly don't want him hoisting 3s all day, but I do believe he can improve shooting skills. I dug up an article from 2012 referencing his commitment to do that. Not hanging my hat on one article, just sharing;

This team needs shooters period! Should we be pursuing this kid? Look at Villanova, they have at least 4 players who can shoot the lights out, none of which are 5 star recruits! We have the muscle down low, we need SHOOTERS!

In the last few years we've been beaten several times by pimple-faced-shooters that have shot lights out against us, and at best they've been 3 star recruits. Why can't we get a pimple-faced kid that can shoot?

Wow that is just weird. If he doesn't drop 20 and 10 at the maac level that will be awful. He should dominate that league. Hofstra he should lead the country in scoring.
 
Had a bad sense about this kid. That he was even considering maac schools was suspicious.
Now its obvious he and his handlers are a basket case and were looking for a desperate coach who would jump through any hoop and sell his soul to have this loser on his team.

No NBA scout is going to take the guy seriously for having put up good stats at that level. It would have been better for him as a pro prospect to put up respectable stats against good competition that inflated stats vs garbage teams.
