Jermaine Lawrence, PF (Cincinnati)

Joe, look at what Kentucky has done this year with probably the 2nd youngest team in the country. They got blown out by Texas A&M by 22pts yesterday. Texas A&M is not as good as Georgetown. A&M is not even ranked. Kentucky's recruits were ranked much higher than ours. Kentucky is 10-5 and unranked, we're 9-6. That's the best analogy I can come up with.

Won't believe it until it's official and even then it doesn't mean crap until he's eligible playing in a game. Also, if this is just another "all around athlete" instead of a SKILLED basketball player, I don't want him.

Lawrence is a kid who has a skill this team sorely needs.... He can shoot (as, mentioned by bk).

My source tells me that Jermaine really misses mom's cooking when he's away at school. He tries to come home as often as possible. Great news for us.

Mom is also, supposedly, fond of the staff.

Are you serious?????? Now I have heard it all!

SJU79 on the jungle thinks we are getting Jermaine

http://johnnyjungle.com/forum/index.php?topic=5757.660

What did he say?

That Jermaine is going to sign with St Johns
is he a reliable source?

In my opinion the best on all 3 st johns boards and I'll say he's better than any journalist who covers St Johns or college basketball guy in relationship to st johns recruiting.

Again the only time I really remember him being really wrong was Kyle Anderson and with Kyle even Choz4life thought he was coming here

Anything can happen but SJU79 has as good of a track record as you can get

Coach Keady thought so too!!!

Kid is a top level talent..he is welcomed here with open arms. Hopefully current group will grow up and he will add to mix. I remember Jay Wright's class of Foye, Ray, and Sumpter taking lumps in Big East before they grew up.

We are the youngest team in NCAA. As frustrated as I was at the game yesterday, I understand some patience is needed.

When Lavin came he said year four would be year everything comes together..I'm giving him benefit of doubt

You do realize G'Town starts 3 sophs and 2 JR's right? They are very young too. When will people wake up and realize youth isn't everything? When that excuse erodes, all that's left is a bad team.

Which is why Georgetown looked like crap against Pitt and has had trouble cracking the 50-point mark all season (including a 37-36 win over Tennessee), and then turn around and look like a top 5 team against Indiana and BE champs against us. They're young, Joe! And as frustrating as it is, it does explain a lot about our team's play as well.

Joe3, we all know we are an incomplete team. Whether you want to throw a conniption fit about it every 5 minutes on this website is up to you - but it's tiring for other readers. The coaches made some calculated decisions about personnel choices - and it hasn't panned out. Please try to accept the team for what it is and not grumble all the time about it. No disrespect to you, but sometimes the voluminous posting on the same faults over and over is a bit much.

Tiring for other readers? You want to know what's tiring? Being terrible. Don't blame me for my view, blame the reason for my negative view: the team. A forum is not for posting what people want to hear, it's for posting your opinion. Try not to grumble much about it and take the team for what it is? Does that mean we aren't allowed to have expectations for a team with 6 top 100's including the nation's best shot blocker, a top scorer in the Big East, a likely Big East ROY, and a top 50 PG? The problem is our scouts...they take guys like Garrett over guys like Aricianado or whatever that Nova kid's name is. We have a bunch of players who are just ok...not players who will beat you with exceptional skill like a Heslip, Austin, Aricianado, Wright, etc. Maybe you should stop being blindly optimistic and politically correct and ask yourself why we have 1 NCAA appearance in the last decade. This organization is the equivalent of the Pittsburgh Pirates or Cleveland Browns- very consistently bad. Until that changes, there is no reason for blind optimism.

Is it March already I didn't realize the season was over... we know your opinion. This team sucks, you love ever losing team in New York and you want to see someone, anyone win a championship in your lifetime. Watch the rest of the season see what happens and we got what we could get from the top 100 and they are only getting better. Pointer has step up the last two games. Jamal has played starting minutes once had 16 points on the first game d'lo didn't score double digits. One game at a time we a have a long string of games that we can win. Who knows what will happen? But I for one want to wait and see before I rule this team a group of losers.

I didn't think my manifesto to Joe3 belonged in this thread - so I'm deleting it and posting it somewhere else; creating a new thread for it. He deserves his own topic.

hi guys ive been a fan of st johns for 30 years lets not beat around the bush. this season is over this team is not making the tournament they are 9-7 wake up people. no nit either so in that aspect i agree with joe season is over. all we have left is to hope they will surpass last year win total to give us hope for the following year. but unlike joe i feel if we get jermaine we will make the dance the following year if no one leaves so there is that to look foward too so lets just hang on till that happens and order will be restored. but yes joe is right this season is over but does not mean that i wont look foward to seeing if they can at least finish 8-10 ill take that at this point

if Godot actually arrives there may be some surprises in store......next year I am not so sure without Lawrence.

How about we no call the season over in January. Until St. Johns gets beat in the Big East tournament...the season isn't over. That team will go out there and try and win every game they can. As long as they are going out there I will cheer and hope they get into the Big Dance. I watch basketball because anything can happen. Anyone can win. Let's just see about the rest of the season by watching and not assume...cause we all know what happens when we assume.

no one is saying to stop rooting for st johns . i will always stand by my team but at the same time the eyes never lie this not a tourney team this year.
