James Jones - Next Coach (oh boy)?
1. Shaheen Holloway
I'd be totally onboard with that the way the search has unfolded. Pair him with some of the assistant names that floated, and let's see what happens. Whatever happens would be better than what happens with Jones.

The new head coach will be African American not that I care but Gempesaw and Olivia know nobody in media will criticize it.

Maybe this the school floated this to rally support for Cluess. A week ago most of the board was killing Cluess over Kenpom ratings.

Tonight he's become a near unanimous choice.
SO TRUE! They pulled the old Vince Macmahon and turned Cluess face! They took a coach in a vacuum would be at 'best' underwhelming hire and at worst an unmitigated disaster and some how got people convinced that he's the only savior.

My knew 'realistic' top 10 for STJ

1. Shaheen Holloway 2. Bob Richey 3. Louis Orr 4. Thunder Dan Majerle (he probably wouldn't leave the south west) 5. Lorenzo Romar 6. Matt Langel 7. Jon Scheyer 8. Pat Kelsey 9. Darian DeVries 10. St Jean
11. Louie Dombrowski

We’ve found a way to bungle coaching hires regardless of race, religion, or creed (btw I don’t think lavin was a bad hire.)

People in the media will criticize it if it's a bad or puzzling hire.

With society today it won’t and I like Jones but the administration will survive he will get like 1.5 to Coach us which is what they wanted all along.

]With all of the carnage in our path where to go next? Schmidt from the Bonnie's should get a call. Do we seriously consider Mark Jackson? Always been amazed how he never got another coaching job. I am thinking the Cluess buyout is what is taking him out of the equation. Johnny Dawkins? Chris Collins?

I actually feel bad for JJ. If you look at what he’s done the last 5 years, it’s actually impressive especially since Yale is traditionally horrible. He obviously can coach because he keeps them competitive. But he’s being brought into a no win situation. St. John’s will be horrible next season and he’s going to have to rebuild from scratch. The fan base won’t respect him because they’ll view him as a cheap hire orchestrated by Gempesaw and Oliva. Plus, if Cragg leaves shortly thereafter, everybody will be against it because they’ll know JJ wasn’t his choice.

I really hope if he’s offered, he turns them down. He’s worked too hard at rebuilding Yale to immerse himself in this crap.

True. And we know the media will all praise a Cluess hiring because they all know he should have been hired five years ago.

If they made this move five years ago we wouldn’t be in this hole today.

Last Thursday majority of the board was begging not to offer cluess the job. A week from then and the majority is praying it goes to him. Think we should have been supporting Craig all along.

They should’ve hired Dan Hurley 5 years ago. Instead decided a legend with zero coaching experience was the better candidate.

Can we just support the coach who is hired first, and then bash them if they suck. Where was all this energy when we hired Mullin, people thought we were back, when we hired a coach with zero experience. Maybe James Jones has figured it out. Maybe he doesn't get hired. Maybe he reads this board and realizes he wants no parts of some of this fan base. He actually made the second round of the NCAA tournament in 15/16 beating Baylor. Almost beat LSU this year. When was the last time we won a first round game?

Ok let's be clear I went last night with customers probably had a little to much wine and I wake up with a pretty good hangover, I think I'm going to vomit and not from the booze! Wtf are they kidding we are done again for another 4 to 5 years, not sure how much more I can take of this BS! Angry and disgruntled FAN.....

No, we can't.

It's not a shot at whomever they hire. Its about the people making the decisions. We've had them make disastrous choice after disastrous choice every 4 years. Then they FINALLY go out and hire a credible AD only to pull a bait and switch on us and the AD. Cragg wasn't hired to change the culture and build the program, he was hired as a fig leaf for the fools actually choosing the coach so they can keep on doing business as usual.

That may be acceptable to you, but not most of us.

I don’t think Cragg signed up for this either. I bet he resigns in next few days.

It seems that the administration is building themselves up to be the most destructive entity to the history and tradition of St. John's ever. Mike Jarvis will be a minor speed bump if Cragg can't manage to get the idiots in charge to let him do his job, and at this point he may not even be able to do his job because they (and Mike Repole - sorry he called it like it is but he also escalated this s*** storm) have created the work PR wreck in major D1 basketball.
