JaKarr Sampson

Would love to have Jakarr back but we can also really use McGary the Dave Cowens play alike in a package deal. :)

Norvel on his twitter accounts keeps saying he can't wait 2K12 and presumably that's because he hopes to be here and qualified at that point. We'll be fine depth-wisw if we can get Amkr and Pelle here for league play. We'll still be young and inexperienced, but we'll make up a lot of lost ground, not only for this season but for coming seasons as well. Let's go Amir and Norvel. Still hope Jakarr stays on board for 2012 class, but presumably we'll know at some point this season whether we'll be using his ship for he or somebody else.

Actually it won't be in a couple of weeks, just checked it will be out tomorrow in the US. But who knows maybe he is talking about the season. It isn't released in the UK until the 7th i think.
 
any idea why Sampson would do a full year of prep instead of trying to be eligible for the Spring semester? Is his situation different then the other two?

Could be a number of reasons. Could be his academics. Could be he doesn't want to miss half a year. Plenty of other theories.
 
Coach Lavin is going to Brewster to visit Jakarr this week according to Jeff Borzello on twitter.

 That is not exactly dreaming. MM is pretty much going to Mich or Duke. But as Thom Yorke once sang, "Nice Dream, Nice Dream, Nice Dreaaamm..."

 Their boards are buzzing because of his ESPN Rise update, which imo knocks out UK (b4 they even had a shot - :lol: ), UNC, Fla and UMD. Looks like he started drinkin' the Coach K lemonade so he can be the next white stiff at Duke, or go the renegade route and bring Michigan back into the top 10. I say it's Michigan unless he really believes the slower tempo of the B1G will hurt his game. I say he goes to Michigan anyway as he seemed like a guy who wants to be part of rebuilding - that's why Mich and UMD were listed out of the final 6.
 
 it sounds like some of the schools that are involved with McGary are all of the sudden involved with Jakarr. They're going to Brewster anyway so might as well talk to him also. Hopefully he will see through being only getting attention by these coaches because they are there to see McGary. Baylor and Kansas are the main guys we have to worry about because they were there in the first go round.

I dont think anyone will ever want to play at St Johns ever again now that TCU is gone.
 
I think Sampson is going to draw attention. He is after all a highly skilled 4 star player. I do not see good prospects shying away from us because of the earthquake that football is causing right now. We are a Basketball school, always have been, always will be. If a kid wants to play on a big stage in the biggest media market in the USA then he is a candidate for the REDMEN. Right now the envrironment is crappy.....and until these football schools stop puking all over the place it is going to continue to be. When all the smoke clears There will be good schools like us that want to play basketball, and if we can make that product good enough we will be fine. If we end up with football schools fine, and if we end up like we started, with basketball only that will be fine also. We are St. John's we live in the largest market...We have one of the best coaching staffs in the country. WE WILL BE FINE!

 Agreed, I'm not too worried. Actually, eventually, after all the ruckus ends, I'd be all for a yearly Cuse matchup. By then we'll be really good, Jimmy B will be retired, and order will be restored back in NYC :)
 
 I think it's ridiculous that JaKar is having our staff come in and re-recruit him. What is our staff going to say to him that he didn't hear last year?? I'm all for a kid looking at as many options as possible, but he either feels St. John's is a spot that will work out or not. Ridiculous that he's having us re-recruit him.
