JaKarr Sampson

I see this 2 ways, first even though he has re-opened his recruitment, he still can return to queens. Remember Ricky Ledo de-commited from Providence and after looking around felt Prov. was his best choice. that can also happen with Sampson. Second, st johns needs to gauge his real interest, if he is seriously looking elsewhere then st johns has to make a decision and move on and begin looking to fill that ship in '12.

Ledo is not a good comparison to me because he committed a 2nd time with a new staff in place.

I suspect that Coach Dunlap, with his no-nonsense personality, is going up to Brewster to determine what Sampson's intentions are. I also suspect that if he doesn't get a sense hat Jakaar is committed to coming, he will be cut loose. I don't see this staff chasing after him if he doesn't want to come.

Agreed.

I don't want this kid in Red. Let him go elsewhere. I don't care if he is a superstar. He didn't get it done in the class room, wasted the staffs time, and screwed his teammates. Time to move on.

Do you also not want Pelle and Garrett? I'll happily take all three next year if they're willing to stick with SJU.

Didnt he get straight As this summer in the classes and the school the staff advised him to take? If he did everything this summer he was asked to do I cant crucify him. The NCAA however......

Ledo was just the first name I could come up with who decommited and then committed to the same school. If Dunlap doesnt feel that Sampson is interested in us any more then we may cut ties. Garrett and Pelle have stated that they are still committed.

I suspect Coach Dunlap brought his red bat up to Brewster, stuck the bat out towards JaKarr, and asked, "Are you with us, or against us?" :eek:hmy:

I don't begrudge any kid changing their mind. I don't have to like it, but I can live with it.

What I don't understand is why we are still chasing after a kid that went from..."I love the staff and people at St John's" to "I failed to qualify so I'm re-opening my recruitment."

Either he wants to be here or he doesn't.

If he no longer feels the love or the desire to be here then why are we wasting time on him now?

Isn't that like getting divorced and then re-married 6 months later? How often does THAT work our for the best?

Sooner or later everyone remembers why they got divorced in the first place and it falls apart again...right?

I think it's more like an engagement and those go on and off all the time. No reason for STJ to drop him unless they're convinced he's not coming as long as they're continuing to look at other kids as well. His is not the last ship at this time. If and when it is then it would be more appropriate to ask him to poo or get off the pot.

The Ark is missing some passengers. I hope they get back on board, but if not, another F and C are on the list to fill.

We need kids who get at least Bs, not Fs and Cs.

I think they are still limited to the original 5. He must not have used all of them up.

I think someone said they start fresh.

But also remember Jakarr committed and never officially visited STJ.

Jakarr made quite a few friends at St.John's and I think we are still in the mix but Karr may do a full year of prep while Norv and Amir are just doing make-up courses to qualify. I am keeping my fingers crossed that by December we go from 8 scholarship players to 10.
