JaKarr Sampson

A question for all of the doctors on this Board. Can returning too early from prostate surgery cause or exacerbate incontinence? Remember, Lavin said that his premature return caused the "setback." Again, just seems strange that he felt that he had enough control of his bladder to coach in November, but now he no longer does. Doesn't add up. With no disrespect to the doctors on this site, unless you've seen Lavin's charts and are on his medical team, you're speculating every bit as much as me and Bobre.

P.S. this post makes me think about our friend crgreen and what he's going through. I hope everything is going well with you. There are a lot of good SJU fans that would love to meet you one day, even if you rooted for UCLA in the matchup. Hope you hang in there. Quality of life's the biggest issue. As long as you're still enjoying it, there's nothing else to question...

Great point about CR. Hope all is well with him. I'll have a toast to him at the Garden for the UCLA game and I'll have a couple more toasts for him after the game if we beat UCLA

Hey, hey, CR, I'll be toasting you too ... you are regularly in our thoughts. Continued best wishes to you in your ongoing battle against this awful disease. Am truly waiting for the day ... hopefully, two years from now ... when you'll be back to normal and strong enough to come to the Garden, watch St. John's whoop UCLA, and hoist a few beers to celebrate a Redmen win and, more importantly, your own personal victory. Until then, continue to fight the good fight ... and win.

Steve just went through every guy's worst nightmare and I would never question the validity of any of that. All I did was wonder if all the traveling is good for him. If Dr. MCN and others say it is then so be it. I truly wish him Godspeed toward a full recovery during this trying time. That's about it for me on the subject. Now back to St John's basketball.

I see lots of talk about Lavin's recovery but not much about Sampson's recruitment which is the reason I am on this thread.

What is the current situation and recent happenings re Sampson? Do we have a shot and when is a decision expected?

Not that I expect him to choose Kansas, too much talent coming in. When are these kids going to be ready to make a decision, afterall don't they realize what we are going through. LOL.

Jack, now you know how these kids are expert at jerking coaches around.
Give me a kid that wants to be here and knows it than a kid who is all over the map. There are 6 ships available and 2 should go to guys that want in now. Get their verbals and move on to those that show us the love. Get 4 new kids and save a ship so that we have at least two for 2013.

Reliable poster, SJU79, on JJ noting we are out of JaKarr race. He notes that he has good info, not definitive proof

Extremely disappointing if true. We need PF/C's. You'd think with the ton of PT we have to offer and our style of play there would be kids jumping on that. Things still not over, but I can't envision this 2012 class being what we had hoped.

It would be very disappointing, if true. Quite frankly, I have a hunch it is true. I was hoping for the best, but was wary of the situation. Usually, when a kid reneges there is a very slim chance of them recommitting if there is too long of a lull. The lull was too long with Gathers (not to mention, his brother involvement) and it's too long with Sampson.

IMO, if a similiar situation arises again, then I hope the coaching staff moves on. Do not place anymore resources and time in a recruit that you've bagged and then they turn around and renege. Make another pitch or two then move on altogether. Unfortunately, our staff wasted too much time on re-recruiting Gathers and Sampson.

I'm still holding out hope, as there are still kids out there with size, and have some ability and skill. We just have to tag and nab 'em. I would've been targeting Anthony January, as soon as he reneged on UTEP. IMO, he's gonna be a solid collegiate.

We still have some time to right the ship for the 2012 class, but the sand in the hourglass is moving pretty rapidly.

I worry that not getting decent bigs will certainly impact Moe's decision to stay.

Likewise. That is why it's very imperative that we land 2 bigs. Not just stiffs. Two, solid bigs. I think Moe would be inclined to stay on board, if that was to happen.

Hate to whine, but what a spate of bad fortune this year from Lavin's health, the Rise Academy debacle (our fault), Gathers, Stith, Lindsey, etc. Chalk a positive up to Branch transfer, but boy are we due for some good news!

My thoughts exactly. No help for Moe, he's gone. He can learn to play the 3 and get paid instead of playing the 4/5 here again and get his head pounded again. He's done a great job this year, but his bread will be buttered as a 3 at the next level. He wants to play the 3 next year.

I'm sort of surprised, only because you would think these kids would see what SJU has going for it in a couple of areas and want to be a part of it.

You see the six they have, plus you know Branch is already on board.

But I'd rather have kids that truly want to be here and aren't going to have one foot out the door once they get here.
