Bobre never ceases to amaze with his breathtaking ability to twist and turn everything to fit his narrow train of thought.

Yeah, its totally the same. Lavin off recruiting while he's sick and a big haired secretary doing jello shots in South Beach on a "sick day".. :$

And my narrow train of thought makes me wonder if Steve would be better by now if he had been in bed at home where he belongs. In decades of following college hoops I've never seen a sick coach off recruiting whille the assistants ran the show. Coach K took a year off but I don't recall him flying around the country kissing babies. In my crazy world the healthy guys do the traveling and the coach closes the deals after the legwork is done. But that's just common sense which doesn't fly on this board in general. I focus on facts like the six man roster, the record etc. No twisting necessary..

Bobre, common sense only works if you have a clue, which you don't. Lavin is not home fighting off cancer. He's cancer free. His issue is likely a more of one that is more publicly sensitive and doesn't lend itself to game coaching just yet, but is fine to be out on the recruiting trail with. Being home in bed has nothing to do with this. Like I said, without getting into deep specifics, my best guess is that he has some bladder issues that take time to improve after surgery and national TV and the sidelines is not a place to be rehabbing your bladder. There's a dose of common sense for you...

Millions of people including me have bladder problems. If they have bathrooms on airliners I really believe there must be one at MSG and CA he could use. I get by ducking into Macdonalds on the ride to the games. Traveling is a lot toougher with incontinence than sitting a quick walk away from a private jahn. What common sense?

I still wanna know where Providence is getting all these scholarships from.

They will pull a current player's ship. That's how.

I have expressed my feelings in the past about going after decommits. Jakarr is no different. Suffice it to say coaches like Boeheim and Calhoun would have written decommits off on day one.....as much as we dislike them, they get it.

I feel pretty confident Lavin will be bringing in 2 JC's with no academic issues, Winston Shephard has become priority #2 behind Obekpa and a surprise secret mystery recruit ---- just to get all the juices flowing here!

I take all the negative sky is falling fans with a grain of salt. Fans that are the enemies from within the family are the worst kind of fan. They tend to be ILL Bills, Chroniccomplainers, Upstate north of Nowhere,PhonyBaloneyMaloney and a host host of other sellouts. When the going gets tough, they are all congregate in the same bar called No Hope Saloon.

I think the worst kind of fan is an ignorant one or one, i.e., one who puts their head in the sand. I can't wait to hear you two months from now. "Trust in Lavin" Priority No. 1 is getting Joe Shmo from Po Dunk JC while priority No. 2 is getting . . ." There aren't many prime time recruits on the board. Btw -- it would not shock me if Branch left (he has not signed a LOI). We are in a world of hurt right now. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Boo,

Every man is a damn fool for at least five minutes every day; wisdom consists in not exceeding the limit. ~ Elbert Hubbard
Thanks for the inside info on Branch! You and Bobre need to go out and celebrate when Moe is drafted # 15 in the first round of the NBA draft. That would be a great testament to Moe's rapid, almost meteoric, rise under the tutelage of your favorite coach.

72, I know you're not familiar with boo Harvey, but how about Omar cook. He was this little pg who listened to the wrong people and left after his freshman year. I think he may have been drafted in the second round. Suffice it to say he didn't have much of an nba career. There was also a pg before cook by the name of Eric Barkley. He left after his soph year and did not have much of an nba career. I know in la la land where the program is on the upswing kids like mo harkless don't leave before theyre ready and guys like me are evil trolls who live to spread misinformation as part of a diabolical scheme to stunt the meteoric rise of the program that lavin has constructed. Indeed in fantasy land, moe has improved under the "tutelage" of lavin, notwithstanding the fact that lavin has only coached him for 4 games

Boo, if the real Boo Harvey were dead, he would be rolling in his grave after reading your comments! LOL!

I have no idea if you think all the players you referenced did the right or wrong this by declaring early. Cook for sure, Erick not, Moe should be compared to a player that played with Boo Harvey named Malik Sealy. Malik was one of the greatest players ever to wear the uniform. Both were 6'8, 200 lbs. I hope Moe looks at game film from those years and realizes he needs at least one, if not more, years to be as good.

It is also ironic you choose a name like Boo Harvey to criticize our young and short roster and moan the state of the program and the win-loss record of five freshmen, two of whom barley shave.
You see I do remember Boo fondly. A great redmen point guard who went undrafted by the NBA. I also remember him letting his team down by barley attending classes and having to be declared academically ineligible in 1988-89 when he should have led his team at the point guard dishing assists to his teammates that included Malik Sealy, Rob Werdann and Jayson Williams. We are talking about one of the most talented teams ever at St. John's but without Harvey they stumbled and bumbled to a 15-12 regular season record, lost in the first round of the BE tourney (15-13) but won the NIT.
I would have loved to hear your comments on that Boo-less team, it's losses, Boo's ineligibility, coach Looie's half-court game, etc., etc.
Boo, I forgot......more than you will ever know about our program.

72 -- I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you about who knows more about the program. I certainly don't derive my self-worth based on that. I will point out, however, that in trying to impress me with your knowledge, you forgot the part about Harvey coming back the following year and hitting 5 buzzer beater shots with Werdann, Sealy Williams, etc. who were all a year older (unfortunately, I think Williams got hurt that year, but Singelton filled in well). All the while supporting his infant son. The NIT team that beat St. Louis in the final had three freshman starters -- they weren't going anywhere with our without Harvey. The team was far better the following two years.

Fwiw -- I have never criticized the current kids. It is you and your ilk who have criticized Stith, and Nuri. I challenge you to cite to a single post where I've criticized the kids. My only purpose in posting is too express my concern and frustration at the current state of the program.

Boo, you seem to assume too much and get down on the staff and program on a regular basis. You say crazy stuff like "72, I know you're not familiar with boo Harvey, but how about Omar cook?". LOL! You are misinformed about Branch and predict he will walk away......assuming Lavin lied to him or our losing record could be factors. Hey, there are a half dozen frustrated fans like yourself here that poop their pants after any recruit signs elsewhere or we lose a game.
You have no problem recollecting Boo Harvey yet fail to see the similar situations with some of the players that did not qualify or left the team. In 1989 your "ilk" may have blamed Looie and his staff for not staying on top of Harvey in class. You defend a sub-par Big East 13 losses with the "youth excuse" but cannot seem to grasp that no team in SJ history has been younger and thinner than the current squad.
Luckily, in 1989 one of those freshmen was the talented Jason Buchannan who had to fill in for Boo while he was "supporting his infant son".......btw, I don't think he worked a second job at the Sly Fox to meet those fatherly obligations. Nice of you to give him a pass for his senior year when that very talented freshman team, along with vets Billy Singleton and Matt Brust, could have won a few more games to make the NCAA had Boo hit the books.
By now you see why I brought up the 1989 team........four highly rated freshmen (3 of which went on to NBA careers); 3 vets in Harvey, Brust and Billy (who went on the play pro ball in Europe) and you see that things were not that great in 1989 after 7 straight NCAA appearances.
Hopefully, we win one or two more this year but we do not have a front line of Werdann (6'11), Williams (6'10), and Sealy (6'8") this year with a Jason Buchannan at the point who was a terrific scorer and a Mad
Matt Brust who played every game as it it were his last. We have two frosh that will start next year. The other positions are up for grabs. Hopefully Lav lands those missing pieces so your sky stops falling.

Did you look up boo Harvey on Wikipedia before you wrote the post? Earlier, you were making fun of my user name as if you had never heard of him. Not sure which 3 highly rated freshman in 89 went on to have nba careers. I love werdann, but I would hardly call a cup of tea a career. Maybe buchannon the "great scorer" had a great nba career. A little advice -- check the website you're reading before posting. And are you seriously calling out a player for supporting his kid? Who are you dude? Finally, I don't see any analogy btwn the 89 team that won the nit with, as you point out, a 6'8, 6,10 and 6'11 frontline. There wasn't a loui team in my lifetime that failed to make the postseason. 72, if I were posting back then, I would have been critical at times. I am not one to deify the coach. But I will tell you this, if lavin can steer us to the success that loui showed us -- I would be thrilled.

Than why not just support him in what he is trying to do instead of hammering lavin and the program?? Like I've said before, I wouldn't care if you guys bitch and moan come May 15th and we have 6 scolly players, but why complain now over something that you know nothing about?? To me it's trolling just to rile people up instead of acting like a patient mature adult

Hey SURPRISE! we have six scholly players RIGHT NOW! Why wait till May 15th???? You're a year late! If the founding fathers had the unquestioning attitudes I see here this would still be an English colony.

Bro, I'm not going to argue with you, there is absolutely no point arguing with a fool.....I really hope you're not serious in what you think or write...just hoping you're a troll...if not I hope there aren't any little bobre's running around because thats a bad gene pool you got there my good sir.

I'm gonna attempt to not respond to his foolishness anymore, either. Sometimes, you can't contain yourself from doing so. Whether, he's intentionally being an instigator or not.... It still comes off as gibberish.

Marcus, excellent post. I have a number of friends who have had successful surgery for prostate cancer, but two of them had a rough time dealing with post-op problems like the ones you've described. Everyone's recovery process is unique, so it's simply ignorant to make generalizations.

I really think that we should respect Coach Lavin and not be disucssing his possible health issues on ths forum. I think the mods should delete these posts. This has devolved to a very low point, one that I can 't really recall on this board.

He is also voluntarily a celebrity and public figure. When you have that kind of status, it should be expected that people and the public will talk about you, regardless of what is being discussed. It's the price you pay for being a celebrity.

This may be the case, but i don't feel that it should be St. John's fans that are questioning the way he and his doctors decide to handle his recovery. I just can't believe that some of you think you know what he should or shouldn't be doing. Who the hell are you?

I would expect this from fans of other programs, not ours. Some of you fans are flat out embarrassing.

Jumbo - this is not directed at you specifically.

Guys and Gals - here's my take -

If you have a friend or family member that you respect who has earned your trust, you don't second guess the person whatever he/she does e.g. cancel plans, take time off, unavailable, not his/her same self whatever.

Steve Lavin has been nothing but well respected and positive and honest - seems to me - as a former coach, as an ESPN type, and now to our good fortune with the "Johnnies".

Why in the world would we - out of (???) impatience, insensitivity, boredom - second guess his decision to balance out his activities. Hel oves to coach. He's damn good at it. He is sacrificing not avoiding. Furthermore, this may be the proverbial blessing with a HEAD COACH recruiting (full time during season) against assistants from other programs.

Why would we second guess his belief that he will reel in another good class - who cares if top 10, top 20…
he has already brought so much to our program in such as short time - assembling a great staff; enabling the effort of the seniors last year; the impossible task of recruiting a Roman legion; the positive publicity; etc.

These are good times ahead and at hand. I'm enjoying watching young highly talented (but outmanned and out-experineced) players giving it their best.

I just saw Norm Roberts sitting on the Florida bench looking so meek and ineffective. Have we already forgotten what nice Norm did??? or misguided Jarvis did???

It ius liklely that Coach Lavin will regain sufficient health to get back into the swing of things. In the meantime I'm fine with it.

all the best

I asked the armchair doctors here to post their credentials. The only who came forward was MCNPA, a Lavin supporter who very eloquently explained the issues that have likely been left unsaid by the Lavin camp, yet people still question his recovery. Unbelievable...

I will reiterate that I don't know what Lavin's postoperative issues are. I'm just pointing out that there are common after-effects of his type of surgery that can allow him to recruit but not be on the sidelines coaching. Coach Lavin should take the requisite time he needs to deal with his medical problems, whatever they may be and we should all realize that often it is a more sensitive matter than comes to light publicly, which is fine. His privacy certainly should be respected.

No don't argue with me because you don't stand a chance. Feel free to try to contradict any of my statements if you can. Yes we do have 6 scholly players which is cause for concern. If you don't see that you are an idiot. Same story on our record, recent blowouts and lack of recruiting news. Again, you have to be an idiot not to be concerned at this point in the season when freshmen aren't freshmen any more etc.,etc. Yes Rawdog I do have offspring either one of which would run circles around any puppies you might have inadvertantly spawned. Learn to go on the paper, get back on your leash and by all means stop eating your own turds. It's bad for the thought processes.

There are different kinds of incontinence Bobre. Let me dummy it down for you. The type of incontinence you get after prostate surgery is the type where you sneeze and dont even know you've emptied your bladder until you feel it trickling into your shoe. It requires wearing diapers or foley catheters with leg bags strapped on. Get it now??  I don't think you're stupid Bobre, just thick...

And let me dummy it down further for you. Lavin's problems are a given. The issue is what environment would be most condusive to his comfort and recovery. I'm comparing airplanes, airports, open road drives and recruit's homes to the warm confines of Madison square Garden. If you can really say that the drudgery of recruiting is easier than parking your ass on a cushion a few steps away from a bathroom God bless you but I thought you were a nurse or something?

Still around with your witty inciteful retorts I see. Good for you. Say did you ever get to an actual Saint John's game yet? I might be able to spare a ticket if you were willing to take the drive.

Bro, I'm not going to argue with you, there is absolutely no point arguing with a fool.....I really hope you're not serious is what you think or write...just hoping you're a troll...

I'm gonna attempt to not respond to his foolishness anymore, either. Sometimes, you can't contain yourself from doing so. Whether, he's intentionally being an instigator or not.... It still comes off as gibberish.

if not I hope there aren't any little bobre's running around because thats a bad gene pool you got there my good sir.

Yep.... I'm still around, my friend. No, I haven't made it to a game. If you still believe going to a game makes you privy to basketball insight (which you probably do), then you still have a lot of work to put in.

If you'd spare a ticket then leave it at will call. Leave two, if you can. Appreciate it!

Oooo bobby knobby, im not going to be drawn into your trolling.....i do have a son though, he is 6 years olds and ive taught him patience and to not worry about things he can't control in life....and at 6,, he has a pretty good grasp on the concepts....unlike a 50 plus year old adult....talk to you again may 15th and see how we are lookin at that point

Going to the games just shows support for the team. Insight comes with analysis of the results. You come up short on both fronts. Forget I mentioned it but there are always thousands of tickets available because the potential buyers have given up. Good reason for you to show up. I drive in from Podunk every time. Why can't you just once?????

Stop complaining about spending dollars when you're showing support for the team. I can analyze the game just fine from the comforts of my sofa. You're too much of a joke to figure that out.

I bet you'd show a lot more respect in person. Stay in your lane, my friend. I'm done with you.
