JaKarr Sampson

What are you talking about with Branch? He already transferred and is on the team.

If Boo, Bill, Baloney Malone and some others pulled any more misinformation out of their collective arses they should just start a thread and keep us updated on that one single thread. I recommend a title like Shitz Happens.

They might want to start with pulling their heads out of their arses first...makes it easier to put on the "red glasses" the rest of us are apparently wearing and see how well the program is setup going forward.

You keep making fun of my user name class of 72. Are you not familiar with boo Harvey? Branch is indeed enrolled in classes here but he hasn't played a game yet. My understanding is that he would not lose his eligibility if he left.

I still wanna know where Providence is getting all these scholarships from.

They will pull a current player's ship. That's how.

I have expressed my feelings in the past about going after decommits. Jakarr is no different. Suffice it to say coaches like Boeheim and Calhoun would have written decommits off on day one.....as much as we dislike them, they get it.

I feel pretty confident Lavin will be bringing in 2 JC's with no academic issues, Winston Shephard has become priority #2 behind Obekpa and a surprise secret mystery recruit ---- just to get all the juices flowing here!

I take all the negative sky is falling fans with a grain of salt. Fans that are the enemies from within the family are the worst kind of fan. They tend to be ILL Bills, Chroniccomplainers, Upstate north of Nowhere,PhonyBaloneyMaloney and a host host of other sellouts. When the going gets tough, they are all congregate in the same bar called No Hope Saloon.

I think the worst kind of fan is an ignorant one or one, i.e., one who puts their head in the sand. I can't wait to hear you two months from now. "Trust in Lavin" Priority No. 1 is getting Joe Shmo from Po Dunk JC while priority No. 2 is getting . . ." There aren't many prime time recruits on the board. Btw -- it would not shock me if Branch left (he has not signed a LOI). We are in a world of hurt right now. Wake up and smell the coffee!

Thanks for the inside info on Branch! You and Bobre need to go out and celebrate when Moe is drafted # 15 in the first round of the NBA draft. That would be a great testament to Moe's rapid, almost meteoric, rise under the tutelage of your favorite coach.

How well the program is set up going forward? This must be mrs. Lavin writing bc only somebody related to lavin could think the program is set up going forward. Six frickin scholarship players and one legit big man who has struggled mightily. Not to mention talk of our best player going to the nba. I think it's great to be optimistic but you guys are frickin ridiculous. And what misinformation have I spread? That jakar was a lock? Or Rico? Or the mystery shooter? Wasn't me.

Why would he leave? He's guaranteed a starting spot and all the playing time he wants once he becomes eligible in December. And your wrong on his eligibility status if he transfers again.

72, I know you're not familiar with boo Harvey, but how about Omar cook. He was this little pg who listened to the wrong people and left after his freshman year. I think he may have been drafted in the second round. Suffice it to say he didn't have much of an nba career. There was also a pg before cook by the name of Eric Barkley. He left after his soph year and did not have much of an nba career. I know in la la land where the program is on the upswing kids like mo harkless don't leave before theyre ready and guys like me are evil trolls who live to spread misinformation as part of a diabolical scheme to stunt the meteoric rise of the program that lavin has constructed. Indeed in fantasy land, moe has improved under the "tutelage" of lavin, notwithstanding the fact that lavin has only coached him for 4 games

Boo, if the real Boo Harvey were dead, he would be rolling in his grave after reading your comments! LOL!

I have no idea if you think all the players you referenced did the right or wrong this by declaring early. Cook for sure, Erick not, Moe should be compared to a player that played with Boo Harvey named Malik Sealy. Malik was one of the greatest players ever to wear the uniform. Both were 6'8, 200 lbs. I hope Moe looks at game film from those years and realizes he needs at least one, if not more, years to be as good.

It is also ironic you choose a name like Boo Harvey to criticize our young and short roster and moan the state of the program and the win-loss record of five freshmen, two of whom barley shave.
You see I do remember Boo fondly. A great redmen point guard who went undrafted by the NBA. I also remember him letting his team down by barley attending classes and having to be declared academically ineligible in 1988-89 when he should have led his team at the point guard dishing assists to his teammates that included Malik Sealy, Rob Werdann and Jayson Williams. We are talking about one of the most talented teams ever at St. John's but without Harvey they stumbled and bumbled to a 15-12 regular season record, lost in the first round of the BE tourney (15-13) but won the NIT.
I would have loved to hear your comments on that Boo-less team, it's losses, Boo's ineligibility, coach Looie's half-court game, etc., etc.
Boo, I forgot......more than you will ever know about our program.

You'd think that your screen name might have tipped him off that you'd know who Boo Harvey is, along with pretty much every other player who's come through here for at least the past 40 years...

OUCH, Boo gets verbally teabagged. Coach will have the last laugh on all the fair weather fans.

" it would not shock me if Branch left (he has not signed a LOI)"

FYI- he has enrolled in the school and is practicing with the team so he has signed an LOI.

And he sits to the right of Coach Keady at each game. He's in the program.

You both need to stop with the logical and cogent thought process.

You must instead throw out any and every inane thought that pops into your head and imagine you are the literary equivalent to William Shakespeare.

Well said but unfortunately, telling it like it is draws a lot of enmity around here. Doesn't change the facts though. Last time we played real shorthanded post Jarvis the team fought every bit as hard as this years with a whole lot less talent. There weren't many games like the Cuse and cincy debacles and I'm just wondering where do we go from here. Have we seen the last of the good efforts? Have we seen the last of Lavin? I think it's critical for him to be seen even if he can't jump up and down. He's our drawing card - not Dunlap who has one tenth the charisma. The "doctors orders" thing just doesn't fly to me as long as Steve is allowed to fly, manage luggage, hotels, eating out etc. Just doesn't make sense to me when his presence could make such a difference. Does the anguish etc. he experiences in front of the TV really differ all that much from what it would be with the team? Sorry but I just can't see it. If I were out sick from the job and was found to be flying all over the country I'd be fired as soon as I got back. I had an employee call in sick from South Beach once. She became an ex-employee shortly thereafter. Bottom line is if you're sick stay home or it looks funny. I know there are fine lines here but I think the assistants should be doing the traveling in this instance. These are just my opinions and I'm sorry if they don't jive with some others but I am sticking with them until I see something credible to contradict them.

Boo, I guy named Brian Littyhoops remembered Boo also in his blog back in Novembef. How are things at CSTV Brian? Not a SJ grad but a huge fan. Here is a tidbit:

Tonight marks my 22nd seasons as a St. John’s fan. I fell hard for the team as an 8-year-old kid in 1989. That season the Johnnies point guard Greg “Boo” Harvey hit a bunch of game-winning last second shots. Jayson Williams and Malik Sealy were the other stars on the team. My local newspaper, Newsday, gave the Johnnies a ton of love (this was still in the glow of the Final Four years). I was already captivated by the Newsday sports section so if they were reporting on the Johnnies I was reading. When I learned the college was less than ten minutes away from our house I was hooked. It would take a few years to convince my Dad to take me to a game. We went to the Garden to watch St. John’s face Indiana in 1991. Sealy, by then an All-American in his senior year, was outplayed by Calbert Cheney and the Johnnies fell to Bobby Knight’s Hoosiers. A few years later my 6th grade English teacher learned I was a Johnnies fan (I wore St. John’s gear to school every day) and started giving me her tickets (first row behind the bench at Alumni Hall), which would then become our season tickets.

Back to the present.

St. John’s opens up its season tonight when they host William & Mary at Carnessecca Arena in Queens. The team is ridiculously young and inexperienced so I’m curious to get a feel for what it will be like to root for them this year. I checked out an exhibition game last week and it wasn’t pretty. The Johnnies couldn’t shoot straight and were especially pitiful from the foul line. They were losing for a large part of the second half and seem rattled until their athleticism helped them pull away in the last few minutes of the game.
