Jakarr Sampon get deal with 76ers!

The kid is easy to like and we all wish him success. This sixers team will be gutted next year and hopefully he sticks but shooting 24% will not cut it in the NBA. His future and $$ are in Europe.

Awesome news. Congrats to him.

I believe Philly had to call him up with three inactive players and him on the 15-man roster. He didn't play tonight as they lost...again. 0-14 with only one real shot to win (Nets) in the next five games. Wow.

Another reason to hope he stays on the roster....

I could be very wrong in how I understand this...but the way the salary cap works, Philly will have to distribute up to 20 million dollars to make up for being so far below the cap. I have no idea how this works (even splits, percentage of payroll per player, etc.), but it's possible that Jakarr and others can not only get an nba job they may not have otherwise, but make a bonus on top of it.

Here's an interesting tidbit.....the 76ers have 69 games remaining, and out of those 69 games, they are favored in zero, yes 0, of them!

Here's the full article:

Obviously, eventually the stars will all align and they will get a win, but this is pretty bad.

I honestly believe that at some point in the near future, commissioners of the NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLB will step in and be able to either fire or fine NFL owners based on win-loss percentages and overall record. Putting a product like the 76ers out on the court is an absolute embarrassment to the league and game of basketball...

There's an interesting discussion for ESPN Insiders between Bilas and Jeff Goodman today on whether Kentucky can beat the Sixers:

http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-col...ts-beat-philadelphia-76ers-college-basketball

Of course Bilas thinks so and Goodman thinks not. Here's a para that addresses players including Jakarr:

Kentucky may not be fully prepared to play an NBA game against NBA players, but the Sixers don't really have a roster full of NBA players. They have a roster that includes many players who could not make the roster on another NBA team. On the roster are Henry Sims, Hollis Thompson, JaKarr Sampson, Robert Covington and Brandon Davies, all nice college players, but none of whom were drafted. In fact, the Sixers have seven players who were not drafted out of college. Of the players who were drafted, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Nerlens Noel, Jerami Grant (injured) and K.J. McDaniels are not skilled offensive players. The best scoring options are Michael Carter-Williams and Tony Wroten, who are both good players, but it's not like the Kentucky guards would have to confront Chris Paul or Russell Westbrook.

Kentucky plays Providence on Sunday. I have never wanted a non-SJU team to win more than I want Providence to win this game.

Providence matches up with UK on paper as well as anyone will all year. It still could be a bloodbath, but Providence is BIG, deep, and experienced up front.

Don't want to shock you but this is one we actually agree on. I also don't believe Providence will be awed; they play hard.

It's getting ugly in Philly. They are now 0-16 and teams are resting their stars and still beating them comfortably on the road. Nowitzki was a healthy scratch tonight for the Mavs. Spurs play @Philly tomorrow and I'd expect them to sit a few guys.

0-18 is the worst start in NBA history. The writers are suggesting the Sixers are doing this on purpose and even KJ McDaniels mother tweeted that they are trying to lose.

The good news is Sampson got a minute of action. The bad news is that Jerami Grant is finally back healthy and the Sixers are trying to trade for Kirelenko.

another loss tonight.

but G-Pops was very passionate in his respect in a post-game interview about how impressed he is that even as the losses mount, the Sixers go after it. many have pointed out that they actually play pretty solid basketball, but again, it's as much about that roster. i still think it's cool that they players play hard and with pride regardless of what the situation is. and from the li'l i've seen of games down in Philly, their fan base is generally supportive of the players, but again, very small sampling (Nets game a week or two back)...

road games next against t-wolves and pistons...maybe they steal one of those?

Should be noted the Sixers coach worked under Pop. Hence a good deal of the praise.
And they did sit Parker and Duncan :)

@Joshua_Newman: Sampson says he has no regrets about leaving early, but he at least hesitated and smiled based on the start the Johnnies are off to.

@Joshua_Newman: Sampson also tooled on Jerami Grant, who was sitting next to him watching film, when the topic of St. John's-Cuse came up. That was comical

Yeah, and Grant tooled on Karr when he reminded him of the stuff last year at MSG ;)

Sitting in a history class while playing basketball.

Or

Making 6 figures playing basketball.

That's a real tough decision.....
