Jakarr Sampon get deal with 76ers!

I caught the Knicks game the other night.
Sampson's jump-shot, while not perfect, seems to have markedly better form.

Even on a court with NBA players, he is one of the quicker, more gifted athletes.
As always, for him it's all about if he can shoot it well enough.

For the season so far: 15 minutes a game; 49% field goal %; 70% FT; 3 rebounds/game, 6 pts/game; only 23% from 3 PT line -

Can he stick in the league? We'll see.

The Sixers are a mess. Okafor is a punk. Fighting and speeding. He better clean his act up fast.

Stick 3 years and he vests in their pension plan and gets min 60k a year starting at 62 and that number goes higher the longer he plays in the league

That's cool. Hopefully he makes it.

But didn't Coach K vouch for his character?

Sampson, if he sticks around, will make more in the next 3 years than the average person makes in an entire lifetime of working. Very happy for him.

It seems like Harkless, who I would have thought had a better future in the pros, is hardly getting any playing time. Is he hurt anyone know?...or is it he just isn't quite good enough to warrant more time..just kind of surprises me to see Sampson in every game for at least 8 minutes vs Harmless not in the box scores most days.

Harkless is getting 20 minutes/game and doing pretty well. Started off slow with the new team but has played well lately.

Don't want to change the direction of this thread, but thank the NBA gods the Sixers picked this guy and left Porzingas for the Knicks.

Jakarr starting at MSG this afternoon

His shooting stroke has improved so much, looks fluid now. Too bad he didn't have someone to teach him that form while he was here, would've been lethal if he had a 3 pointer to go with his driving and interior game.

He played pretty good D during the minutes he played today. Afflao had a hard time getting clean shots when Sampson was guarding him.

He just has to keep on working on that jump shot... he's got a legit shots to stick around in the league for a while.

Too many other guys who can score in the team that take his minutes.

That kid on Butler Roosevelt has a horrible, horrible stroke that will keep him of of the pros for sure - Reggie Carter of SJU had a horrible stroke and was a first round pick of the Knicks. Pearl Washington had almost a push set shot, and that killed him too. For that matter, so did Magic Johnson when he arrived in the pros. Changing a guy's form is not as easy as you think, and for some guys who grew up with monster physical abilities on the schoolyard blacktop with little formative coaching end up with bad form. Some of the guys above were coached by HOF college coaches who didn't make them change their stroke while in college.

Fantastic news for both Jakaar and the program, this can only help with recruiting going forward for Coach Lavin having continue to get players into the league.
Go Jakaar , go SJU.

Great, i said it from day one he had next level skills. Determination and hard work pays off

Jakarr is averaging 5.6 ppg, 3 rpg. and 0.7 apg while shooting .207 from three in 15 mpg on the league's worst team.

But other than that, he's shooting great and should be a league mainstay for years.

Thanks for the snarky response. What part of "He has to keep on working on that jump shot" did you not understand? He's starting on an NBA team right now. Not bad. He must clearly bring something to the table if he is starting. If he could shoot, he will be in the league a long time. If he can't shoot, he won't. His minutes are clearly limited because he's he can't shoot well enough. No reason for the snarky comment.
