Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

I really hope Tiny gets caught paying some of his new salary to Whitehead and SHU gets sanctioned by the NCAA. Now that would be fun to watch.

SHU did what they had to do...I am more ticked at the behind the scenes orchestrations by Morton...he was BMOC in PSAL...will lose his cache and leverage once IW comes and goes...

I won't pretend to know much about Morton other than the stuff I read but it doesn't seem like he is very well liked in the NYC BBall circles so seems like his value will be short lived... but for SHU, the juice was worth the squeeze...

Trust me SJU was it this morning. SHU simply went "all in" for him today.

They feel they need to make a splash. But this stuff has a way of backfiring...

Bingo, fordham!

It was the Johnnies earlier today. We got shystered at the 11th hour.

It must have been embarrassing for Tiny when Lavin essentially said no. It kind of makes SHU look like the "anything goes" program and ours like the one with standards.

By the way, no doubt in my mind Tiny uses his new paycheck to give Whitehead a cut for his part if not a continuous salary. But the NCAA will never see a red flag because it's apparently legal to hire their coaches.

I am wondering what is in it for the mother. Why does she care so much about Tiny(wonder why that is his nickname)? She is on the take also.

Yes, no doubt in my mind Whitehead gets his kickback and his mother gets hers as well. All they have to do is play stupid and say SHU was Whitehead's choice because it "fit him best" and "recruited harder". If I were the NCAA, I'd put red flags next to every school that did this kind of thing with the coach package and have undercover people ensure the paycheck is only going to the coach and not the recruit or his family.

Anyone see the article about Oklahoma State athletics? Girls were given to the athletes for sex, they were paid to play, they never had to go to class, etc. It's that crazy world of dirty recruiting. This one however really opened my eyes to just how ridiculous it can be.

So I'm not allowed to question our offense because the season didn't start yet. Apparently the season not starting yet somehow alleviates that. If you aren't worried about our offense you weren't watching last year. We couldn't shoot FT's we could not buy a 3 with Bill Gates money, and we depended on running the shot clock down to 5 seconds, chucking and praying. We were among the worst offenses in major college hoops.

Go look at the roster this season. See any new names that reportedly will give the offense a big boost?

The problem people have with you is your over-the-top reaction to everything. If anyone is insulting you, it's because they deem your behavior ridiculous to the point of being insult worthy. And it's not because they are old. Or because they have a beer gut. Or because there is some secret good old boys network here whose existence you alone are privy to. It is because you go nuts over everything. Are you like this in real life, or just online?

You are more than welcome to question the offense. It's just that a rational person would indeed wait until November to worry.

Let's put things in perspective for a second...this is a basketball forum. Do you think Fun acts like he acts on here in real life? Obviously not. Do I? Obviously not. I'm just a big SJU fan that is dying of hunger to see this team do something big. That's all. I wasn't aware a sports forum could double as a mental health clinic with you guys being the shrinks. I come here for basketball, not personal attacks like some of you do. All I was saying was if our offense is horrid again, it will make the IW story haunt us even more.

I wish I was a fly on the wall to hear what Lavin was saying especially when he found out that the only reason he chose them over us was because of the coaching position. What a joke. Still have no clue how that isn't illegal. Lavin must have been shocked when he asked him that.

It's not illegal because there are highschool coaches that are qualified to become college assistants. You can't take away jobs from qualified candidates because they coach a kid who wants to go there. Yes the rule gets taken advantage of but it makes sense.

This has been a fascinating day. I spent the afternoon reloading this page to see if a highly touted student athlete who we didn't think we'd have for 99% of his recruitment go to a rival school who had him for less than 99.5% of the time. There were old posters, insane young posters (I only imagine that lawmanfan walked around with a glass of scotch yelling "at least I only posted 2500 words for an actual game breakdown!"), and trollers that couldn't touch Joe's ability to hijack a thread with Norm Robert's supporters writing extra copy. So for what it's worth:
1. Tiny Morton used a kid to get a job, welcome to college hoops
2. We felt that IW was ours to lose, 4 years ago, I wouldn't have clicked the page, that's how far we've come.
3. Good for Seton Hall, they did what they had to do to remind everyone how awful this part of the game is to get their guy.
4. I hope the best for Isaiah, he seems like he's just listening to his inner circle and wants to stay close to his family

Isaiah and his mom have known Tiny for a long time so there is probably a trust factor with him as well as a loyalty factor

Is there a vet on the board, because I think it's time we put Joe to sleep. He's shot.
Joe, relax. I didn't really want to post because I am terrified of kid's reading these boards and getting turned off, but Whitehead would have all but guaranteed himself to not be a one-and-done by attending SJU. We already have three top 50 guards...all will be more experienced and more physically mature than Whitehead.

I wanted because (1) Championship depth at the guard position for 2014, (2) he would have really picked up recruiting for 2014 and 2015, and (3) it would have been damn nice to land a NYC McDonald's All-American.

I still do not think this over. Show some civility and maybe if he changes his mind, IW will consider SJU.

"I just picked Seton Hall to bring the program back to where they used to be," Whitehead said during a televised news conference inside the gym at Lincoln.

Where were they exactly?

Isn't there NCAA rule about a college coach having to wait 2 years before signing a kid that played for him in HS? Was SH able to sidestep this rule because they got a commit from Whitehead before hiring Morton?

They used to be sucky. And when he gets there, they will become sucky.

As long as he's a coach it doesnt matter.
Can't be DOBO, water boy, video guy etc.

So now I'm a troll and compared to an animal that someone wants killed. Here's the thing: I move on and talk SJ hoops, and hours later we still have other posters who have it out for me not allowing me to live anything down and throwing more jabs in there. All you do is continue the cycle. Really beginning to wonder if it's even worth it to try and stick around because I have what seems like hundreds of people who would love nothing more than to see me banned and maybe 1 person who sees through the BS and realizes I have good intentions. You guys really are some of the most ruthless people I've ever encountered even if it's online save for 1 or 2 of you. I mean that with 100% honesty. Now go ahead and whine about how I don't let things go even though I'm the one who moved on and others brought it back to attacking me.

Yeah, enough trust and loyalty to keep secret about the payments they will recieve.

Shaheen Holloway, Fred Hill watch your jobs. Seton Hall will gladly post a for hire sale to lure more recruits.

I don't want you banned. You are hysterical, and I love when you play the victim. You are also the ultimate last word freak and that also makes me laugh. You need to relax, though, and please stop posting 100 posts at a clip. Can you also try to stay closer to the middle instead of posting on both poles. You were an effing mad man today. Look back over your posts the last 48 hours.

And you need to stop taking being a crazy sports fan and mistaking it for being a real nut job in real life. There is life and then there are sports. You are allowed to get crazy about sports. Ever watch the NFL draft? Are they nut jobs too or just crazed fans? You have to separate sports and one's normal life then you will see the difference. There is no hole in my wall over this...it was just an insane roller coaster ride so why were you expecting a calm board during it? Your expectations based on the situations are strange.
