Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

If him and his coach go to SHU it will leave a very sour taste in my mouth. This is something the NCAA should be taking a close look at. Not bullshit little infractions like players using the school hose to wash a car.

We really need this dude were challenged to score the ball..Lavin has really cooled down in recruitng after a crazy hot start..maybe we are what we are at this point as a program

If we lose a bigtime nyc kid to seton hall then it maybe time to reevaluate how good we can be anymore

lol
You let Dwayne or Kimani use your screen name?

Really?

I guess you're not paying any attention to the possible dynamics of this recruitment. I'm saying "possible" because this could be just a farce to hype up the announcement.

Lastly, I guess you also forgot Lavin nabbed a 5-star kid about 5 months ago.

I don't know what would be more enjoyable:

(A) IW committing to SJU;

(B) IW not committing to SJU and reading the highly objective reactions on here about the current state of our program as a result; or

(C) It looking like IW is committing to Seton Hall, reading 3+ hours of reactions on here about the current state of our program as a result, and then IW committing to SJU.

Probably C in a runaway. But there really is no bad choice. That's how great the reactions will be.

I would go with C or

(D) IW committing to SHU then reading about SHU's recruiting violations regarding around the IW recruitment and NCAA sanctions.

It is all about playing time......40 minutes a game, being the "only star" on the team, scoring a ton of points.....regardless of the team's won-loss record*

Last night I thaught for sure he was ours. Now Im getting a sick feeling. Im going to take a previous posters advise and turn off my computer.

To be honest it would not surprise me at all if the reporters are doing this whole back and forth between SHU and SJU to drive traffic to their webpages and increase their ad revenue.
At the end of the day, sports reporting is mostly based on opinions and assumptions so no one can hold them accountable for flip flopping.

Has anyone ever heard of a school hiring the kid's HS coach on the morning of his announcement. That would be the most desperate move ever.

You missed the other rumor floating around. It mentioned Seton Hall moving their entire campus from South Orange, to Coney Island in order to allow Whitehead to be really close to home. The problem was the NYC Buildings Department couldn't approve construction of this size in 24 hours.

LMFAO! >-)

On the money MJ. And as someone who is a Johnnies fan and a somewhat connected bball fan residing in Jersey I can tell you the initial reaction to this news from the two coaches I have talked to is completely negative but both held out the hope it was not true. If fact, Sleaze squared......but not illegal at all. In fact, it is not uncommon at all. A lot of schools play the "get the parents a job card" also. But we will see if this is fact or rumor in a few hours. I would think Morton and SHU would be a little more coy about it and do the hire in a month or so but who knows?

I am pretty sure I saw a twitter post that says Morton and Isiah's mother are dating. If this is the case, then hiring Morton would be pretty close to a direct payment. This wreaks of politics.

Well yes its conveneient now to call the kid a selfish chucker who we dont need now that we dont think were getting him..

People can wear the rose colored glasses all they want were is our scoring gonna come from next year?

I'm sure those coaches would think this situation would be negative. It seems sleazy, as you stated, although it's legal.

It seemed things gained steam in the 11th hour, which made it look like Seton Hall started brokering a deal when they felt Whitehead was slipping away.

You would think someone would've been coy about their actions, instead of waiting 'til the day of the announcement to "seal the deal," per se'.

We'll certainly find out shortly, whether this rumor has legs or not. This could be Nerlens Noel all over again.

From a Daily News article four years ago.

To his critics, Morton, 39, is a ruthless recruiter of talent, a man who exploits kids for financial gain while stretching the rules of the PSAL. In his 14 years at Lincoln, he has won seven PSAL titles - including an unprecedented four in a row - and three state titles. He sent one player, Sebastian Telfair, directly to the NBA and became one of the few coaches to secure a lucrative deal as a consultant to a shoe company.

On behalf of '72, he always tend to take jabs, whether it's sarcasm or not.

I guess you also haven't paid attention to our roster this season.

Besides, Whitehead wasn't gonna play with us this season anyhow. He's in the '14 class.

I guess you really haven't been paying attention.

Looking at the recruitment of IW, one has to wonder why the lack of continued interest from major programs for such a highly rated high school player.
Why has cuse walked away? Why has louisville not continued their recruitment of IW? Back in March wasn't Calipari attending his games? Why are there so few schools pursing him?
Makes me wonder.
This entire episode has a bad odor to it.
