Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

http://nypost.com/2013/09/19/seton-hall-nabs-brooklyn-star-whitehead-sources/

Lincoln star Isaiah Whitehead is expected to announce his commitment to Seton Hall at a press conference at the Coney Island high school later Thursday afternoon, multiple sources have told The Post.
Whitehead, a consensus five-star recruit ranked 12th in the country by Scout.com, will pick the Pirates over St. John’s, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Minnesota, a major commitment for head coach Kevin Willard on the heels of a big summer.
Lincoln head coach Dwayne “Tiny” Morton is expected to join Willard’s staff as an assistant coach next season, sources have told The Post, an added benefit in Whitehead’s eyes. The standout shooting guard was taught by Morton in middle school and also has spent his entire career with the Juice All-Stars, Morton’s AAU program.

Next year?

Can everyone else finally admit the Hall is a red hot school right now? If they really do add Briscoe also then they have around the same talent level as us IMO. Not being negative, being real. Another NYC McD AA gone...Jordan and co. better step up big time. We can never have too much scoring...if you are not upset that we got played here and lost a 5 star NYC McD AA recruit, I would question your pulse as a fan.

Let's hope Jordan makes us forget about him fast. I'm still confident in Lavin, but my bar is set at the 2015 class. If we don't bring in major players then , it's time to ask what's going on.

This post (like many of yours in this thread) are all over the place.
You talk about Seton Hall being the hot school. If Whitehead chooses them only after a last second agreement, those actions are hardly the trademark of a "hot" school. It is a desperate school.

They are a hot school. But, like us, they've brought in super classes before, only to have it blow up in their face (see the Eddie Griffin class, which some touted as #1 in the country).

As for us, I would have loved Whitehead, but I look at the 2014-2015 season, and see the frontcourt as having more needs then the 2 guard spot. Gift and Sanchez will definatly be gone, maybe Sampson too. Someone is going to have to fill those voids.

Everyone should be back in the backcourt. If Jordan goes pro, or Harrison gets kicked off the team (let's hope not), then I expect the staff to address those concerns as they come.

Token season for Antigua is my guess. Can't fire him right off the bat.

They removed him from the SH website this morning but claimed to only be "adjusting the font" on his information.

Crystal Ball Prediction for Isa...err..Tiny Morton is trending upwards.

@jerrymeyer247: This one made me wonder if it should be a #Crystalball for Isaiah Whitehead or for Tiny Morton.

Its really pathetic if so then because let IW have his day. Then next year Tiny quits and joins him. Instead the Tiny stuff is gonna cloud the announcement if its true.

The scoop 24ish hours ago was that St. John's would also have a job available for Tiny Morton w the blessing of Under Armour.

Seton Hall found a work around by adding Morton next year. They could not have signed Whitehead had Morton been on staff for this season. Because a coach cannot touch any of the players from his high school for two years. (Do I have that correct?)

I would have loved to have signed Whitehead but like others have said we will be ok. Lavin can recruit that is for sure.

IMO, I don't consider them to be a "hot school." They brought in coaches of two kids, in order to get them (ie, Delgado/Antigua and Whitehead/Morton). It's legal, so kudos to 'em.

Secondly, Delgado may have eligibility issues, and I'm not a fan of Carrington's game. IMO, Willard is a desperate coach and these past transgressions shows it.

Seton Hall only placed a Band-Aid on their severe knife wound. Willard will probably be axed within 4 seasons. I believe he can coach, but I still believe he'll have trouble succeeding on the recruiting trail.

Lastly, we've just found out why schools were probably "eliminated" in the Whitehead sweepstakes.

That is Zach sort of throwing the info out there for the wolves to feed on. Bad move on his part IMHO.

And I agree. Let IW have his moment. But some reporter/writer/blogger was going to do this. Someone was going to call shenanigans.

Let's not act like Zags didn't throw Jermaine Lawrence's handlers under the bus right after his announcement. Only difference is Zags doesn't write for such a headliner like The Post.

Whoa!

It is interesting, if true.

Maybe, that was the reason yesterday's visit was so "huge" for us, per Tiny Morton.

Ouch...this one hurts. It's never good to lose out on a highly rated local kid.

Thought it was if he is a coach it doesnt matter. More for water boys, video coordinators and DOBO's.

Agree on all points. And to be honest I thought yesterday fluff piece for us while not saying he was coming here was pretty much doing everything BUT saying he verballed.
