Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

We really need this dude were challenged to score the ball..Lavin has really cooled down in recruitng after a crazy hot start..maybe we are what we are at this point as a program

If we lose a bigtime nyc kid to seton hall then it maybe time to reevaluate how good we can be anymore

It is all about playing time......40 minutes a game, being the "only star" on the team, scoring a ton of points.....regardless of the team's won-loss record*

*see Maurice Harkless

Well yes its conveneient now to call the kid a selfish chucker who we dont need now that we dont think were getting him..

People can wear the rose colored glasses all they want were is our scoring gonna come from next year?

On behalf of '72, he always tend to take jabs, whether it's sarcasm or not.

I guess you also haven't paid attention to our roster this season.

Besides, Whitehead wasn't gonna play with us this season anyhow. He's in the '14 class.

I guess you really haven't been paying attention.

I guess you really havent been paying attention to my post when i said "next" years team not "this" coming years team

We're more than likey have most of the team next season.

Your turn.....

Jordans likely one and done.. now back to you

I'm told no final Isaiah Whitehead decision has been made, but I'd personally be shocked if it's not Seton Hall. #shbb

Until he's one and done, then he has eligibility to return.

That's the problem with some of y'all.... Some folks think everyone is about to jump to the NBA.

Neither one of us knows whether he's gonna leave or return after this season. But it is a FACT that he'll have eligibility to return after this season.

Why has cuse walked away? Why has louisville not continued their recruitment of IW? Back in March wasn't Calipari attending his games? Why are there so few schools pursing him? Makes me wonder. This entire episode has a bad odor to it.

Of all of the examples that you could give, it is highly ironic and I'm not sure why that would make you wonder. These three programs/coaches in particular have both some very high profile examples of hiring assistant coaches to get a player and mixed in with some of the most questionable and devious recruiting in NCAA history.

Hats off to Tiny. Couldn't happen to a better guy. I heard he's got game.

See you in the Garden Seton Hall.

Shocked that this could happen, that a HS coach would shop a kid around for a college job.

It's not like the most popular man in all of college basketball jumped from East Rutherford High School to an assistants position at Rutgers just because he was coaching 6'11" Les Cason, the highest rated recruit nationally in the class of 1971, who ended up with the Scarlet Knights.

And who is this trailblazer?

Dickie V.

Can everyone else finally admit the Hall is a red hot school right now? If they really do add Briscoe also then they have around the same talent level as us IMO. Not being negative, being real. Another NYC McD AA gone...Jordan and co. better step up big time. We can never have too much scoring...if you are not upset that we got played here and lost a 5 star NYC McD AA recruit, I would question your pulse as a fan.

Let's hope Jordan makes us forget about him fast. I'm still confident in Lavin, but my bar is set at the 2015 class. If we don't bring in major players then , it's time to ask what's going on.

Looking at the recruitment of IW, one has to wonder why the lack of continued interest from major programs for such a highly rated high school player.

Let's not forget that St. John's backed away from him over the summer. Only reason they got back in was IW and his mom reached out to them.

From afar, it looks like Tiny Morton and IW played St. John's. They wanted them in the race and then used them as leverage to get what they wanted from Seton Hall.

I'll completely disagree with you actually. This sets a very bad precedent for Seton Hall.

If you are a top recruit in '15 or '16 and Seton Hall comes calling, what is to stop you from turning around and asking to get the same deal that Tiny Morton just got? By doing this, Willard is sending out the signal that he will do anything possible.

I wish that all of you would get a life. The fact that you are all on pins an needles regarding a decision an 18 yr old will make regarding were he will play collegiate basketball is ludicrous. Who cares where he ends up going. If we dont recruit him their will be others. It is not as if our cupboards are bare. He is more than likely a one and done recruit anyway, who just a few weeks ago was not really someone we would thought we had a chance of securing. Place your priorities on what is really important in our lives. I can assure you that wherever he decides to go wil not effect you or me in the least.

If we lose him fair and square I'll tip my hat to Seton Hall. But if they're playing dirty then I'm going to be pretty ticked off and something needs to be done.

Hopefully the NCAA looks into this or makes a new rule as a result of this. How is this not tampering with a recruit? His coach is one of his closest allies in his life. And then SHU offers a job to him right in the thick of things? Shocked this is allowed. By the way, new tweets say SNY.tv and Zags had SJU so I have no idea anymore. Sorry to annoy you guys I type what I'm thinking. With that said I'm off until I get off work. Fingers crossed.

This post (like many of yours in this thread) are all over the place.
You talk about Seton Hall being the hot school. If Whitehead chooses them only after a last second agreement, those actions are hardly the trademark of a "hot" school. It is a desperate school.

Some of you guys are nuts. Joe, you are insane. You are truly emotionally unstable.
Can you just wait for 2:30? If we get our FOURTH top 50 backcourt player for next season, that would be amazing. If we don't, we'll be fine.

If IW is choosing between SH and SJU, the conference wins. In the big picture that is huge.

Joe even though you got guru to give you some evidence after I said people with inside info typicaly wouldn't, I can actually help you out with this one.

Relax my man. It's all relative. Is not getting IW (if in fact we don't) dissapointing? Of course. But the sky is not falling, we aren't losing other recruits as a result, and we don't immediately need to put pressure on the '15 class.

If the Hall gets him and is "hot" - good for them. We don't need to worry about that. Control what we can control. After a decade of being irrelevant in recruiting, we got "hot". I haven't seen other schools crumble as a result, and we won't if the Hall becomes more of a player in recruiting. Even despite their proximity to us and being in the same conference.

Lavin has been here for 3 full recruiting cycles and has gotten better with each one. He used our one available scholarship last year to land the most highly rated recruit this program has gotten in more than a decade. Let's see where we are in April with recruiting, IW or no IW. More importantly let's see what kind of season we've had at that time.

No one recruit as long as Lavin is here will be make or break. Harkless was the guy we needed and we got him. Now we're just winning some (at a much higher level and volume than we have in nearly 30 years) and losing others, just like every other program in the country. You'll drive yourself crazy if you keep approaching every high and low like this! It's the aggregate that matters. Our aggregate looks good right now.

The dude needs to be on meds. At the end of the day honestly none of our lives will change...unless Tiny is posting on this board ;-)

http://nypost.com/2013/09/19/seton-hall-nabs-brooklyn-star-whitehead-sources/

Lincoln star Isaiah Whitehead is expected to announce his commitment to Seton Hall at a press conference at the Coney Island high school later Thursday afternoon, multiple sources have told The Post.
Whitehead, a consensus five-star recruit ranked 12th in the country by Scout.com, will pick the Pirates over St. John’s, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Minnesota, a major commitment for head coach Kevin Willard on the heels of a big summer.
Lincoln head coach Dwayne “Tiny” Morton is expected to join Willard’s staff as an assistant coach next season, sources have told The Post, an added benefit in Whitehead’s eyes. The standout shooting guard was taught by Morton in middle school and also has spent his entire career with the Juice All-Stars, Morton’s AAU program.

In fairness to Joe. We are all fanatics and most were probably on pins and needles last night anticipating his signing and most are probably upset, including myself anticipating his announcement for SHU. Yes, I couldn't hold out, I turned on my computer again LOL. Joe just takes it to the extreme ,he is a very passionate fan.
