Isaiah Whitehead, SG (Seton Hall verbal)

Coaches from 2 of the 5 schools in the Isaiah Whitehead Sweepstakes told @SNYtv they believe it will be #Stjbb. & no #stjbb wasn't 1 of them

Playing devils advocate here. I remember that even Kyle Aderson's parents thought he was coming to SJU, and we all know how that turned out.

I feel 'ya.

I'll say this.... A day before Anderson's (actually, about a week) announcement; all signs were pointing to UCLA.

This situation is a bit different.

“@JonRothstein: Would be SHOCKED if they didn't @GMEN10 Will the johnnies get whitehead?”

We have to land this kid. Can parlay this into a big push for forwards this spring. Whitehead/Rysheed/branch and Greene would be unstoppable over next few. All signs point to SJU. We shall see...

We definitely do not have to land him, but I completely agree that a Whitehead commitment can be parlayed into landing a pair of top 50 forwards. You'd have to be crazy to not want to play with that kind of back court and plenty of playing time to offer.

You do not have to do anything in life. But to succeed you need to get some big winners along the way.

Would he be the biggest get since Felipe Lopez?

It would be close to Artest. Even though the PSAL has fallen off the map, many New Yorkers know Lincoln and will really root for this kid to be a success.

@msg_varsity: We will stream @Isaiah_W15's commitment announcement TOMORROW at 2:30. #MSGV_Live”

Erick Barkley

Omar Cook?

Or if you're going strictly by rankings, it would be out last McD's AA.... Elijah Ingram.

Barkley was ranked around #20, I think, don't recall Cook's or Ingram's ranking.

I'm not sure Barkley was rated by every scouting service due to him being a 5th year prep (one could be elected as a McDonald's AA, as a 5th year prepster at that time). But I do recall him being rated #10 by PrepStars.

Elijah Ingram was a consensus top 30 recruit in the 2002 class.

Omar Cook hovered around the top 10 in his class (2000).

Crap...I thought he was announcing today :(...any word on how the visit went? Obviously they would never say "it went crappy", but sometimes quotes from the recruit can add intrigue as to where they might go.

Whitehead is a guy who does everything he can to drive to the hoop and usually gets his way, but in the past year he has really honed his jumper. He seems to have a soft touch. Jordan, Whitehead, Branch and Harrison can all drive to the hoop very well and they are also a threat even outside the paint. If we get Whitehead we will give defenses headaches. We don't even need both to be superstar lottery picks...we need 1 of either Jordan/Whitehead to be great and the other can be good not great. If we get Whitehead and the combo of a brand new Branch, Harrison, Jordan, Whitehead cannot get us some good offense then we know we are cursed.

Just saw Lavin's post on Instagram- and looks like he had lunch with BD in Manhattan today. Question for the forum- Is it a violation to tweet/post etc anything about an unsigned recruit? Think he brought BD in for the Kyle Anderson visit last year as well if I remember correctly...
