Is Obekpa Next? No! He's staying!

I guess he shopped himself around and the promise of starting or a ton of minutes weren't there. And if Baylor and Oregon were involved as rumored, then maybe they weren't offering enough cash.

I'm glad he's back because it stops the bleeding, but refusing to go into a game still makes him a dick. Hopefully his attitude changes.

I'm just glad we've gone from the sky is falling to losing one talented guy and his buddy who everyone seemed to hate anyway.

If we land the WCC kid I like the way we look on paper. Just need to add a SF who likes to rebound and hope the staff won't stumble all over itself.

+1
this was a really good post on several levels. I'd like to add someone who can put the ball in the net, to replace hooper, Marco, Sanchez. But otherwise I agree with everything you said.

It doesn't matter if our backcourt is already crowded, Newbill is better than Greene and is big and muscular at the guard and could start as a legitimate 3. He is a stud.

Absolutely.
17pt scorers don't grow on trees. He would be a huge get. His shooting numbers improved significantly this year when he didn't have to play pg.

@AdamZagoria: Was also told by Our Savior coach Ron Stelzer that Obekpa met recently with Florida's Billy Donovan.

Wait.... What?

How do you meet with one of the greatest coaches in the nation and go running back to Lav???

Another lesson for the trolls on here. To bash someone is one thing but to beat the dead horse and take it over the line is another. Quite a few of you should have your tails between your legs right now but are probably too stupid or don't care about the things you say behind a keyboard.

I was apathetic to his decision. Tens of thousands of students transfer every year it's wrong to criticize anyone for their personal choices. That apathy has turned to anticipation. Good to see our front court in tact(somewhat).

For the record, I still wish to see a coaching change and maintain the 2014 recruiting effort was reprehensible. I, too, am glad to see opportunities on the horizon. However, I just cannot see this coach having any real success.

Just curious

Say our 2014 class ends up being:

Adonis De La Rosa
Keith Thomas
Jon Horford
Marlon Jones

Is it still a failure in your eyes?

@NYPost_Brazille: More tomorrow on Chris Obekpa, just filed updated story. Been told meeting between Obekpa, Steve Lavin should take place this week. #sjubb
