Is Obekpa Next? No! He's staying!

I don't want him back unless he promises to never where that hair cut from the Robert Morris game again.

@philgreene31: To all the Sjubb fans I'm going to need y'all to convince my bro @obekpa12 to stay #unfinishedbusiness #stayobekpa #sjubb ..Make that happen

I sent a reply. Maybe we all should. Can't hurt right?

i wouldn't waste precious twitter characters on a malcontent that at one point didn't want to be here and quit on the team during the biggest game of the year.

I feel so inept now for not having a twitter account. I just can't make a difference in this age of technology :)

We should tweet a kid that quit on his team begging him to come back? No thanks

I know. I don't really know how to use twitter. I don't agree with others though. I want Obekpa to come back. Some strange things seem to happen at St. John's and I am not going to entirely blame him for his frustration. I'd rather give him a second chance.

I want him back as well. If he stays, the program is not in implosion-mode anymore; Lavin can then get one or two more pieces for next year, and then start working on next-season and the next recruiting cycle.

As much as I detest someone refusing to enter a game at the direction of his coach I recall Scottie Pippen doing the same to Phil Jackson in a playoff game vs the Knicks because with 2 seconds left Phil called a play for Tony Kukoch instead of Pippin. Kukoch hit the game winner but Phil did not throw Pippin under the bus. I would put CO on a short leach and tell him he will be benched or thrown off the team depending on any future transgressions.

He was given his release. If he was bluffing, it backfired. If he comes back it would not be because the coach asked him back.

For whatever it's worth:

@JayOn_1: Obekpa is definitely staying. Would have never thought it #Sjubb

They should require him to go to some disciplinary or anger management team this summer like they did with Harrison if he wants to stay. The guy showed he was immature and put himself above the team and all his teammates

If he wants back and coach and team want him who am I to question it. As a fan you can only guess about what went on. The coach makes the call.

He was a key part of nice February run. He will learn to play the game and become a consistent force.

I agree completely!

A "short leach" ... Another one of your intentional malaprops, bamafan?

Agree

I wonder if he has another tantrum, will he repeat what he did in the last two games this year. Will he continue to dog it like he did for many games toward the end of the season last year?

Could "dogging it" have to do with the fact he played through an ankle injury?

Maybe acute pain made him refuse to go back into game against Providence. I never thought of that.
