Is Obekpa Next? No! He's staying!

Do we move Obekpa to the 2014 recruits section now and a potential top 200 class ?

He's back but now has a true center to push him and vice versa. Win for SJU regardless.

Unfortunately for Chris, this is no longer his decision to make. This is a request right now.

#sjubball We'd like to welcome Chris back to the team. This solidifies our 2014 recruiting class proving our commitment to bringing in quality recruits

... I would put CO on a short leach and tell him he will be benched or thrown off the team depending on any future transgressions.

A "short leach" ... Another one of your intentional malaprops, bamafan?
Um, yeah yeah, that's the ticket! :)

Do we want him back? I thought we got rid of him.You say you don't want to play and then you say you don' t like the school, confusing to say the least. Is still April fools

As much as I detest someone refusing to enter a game at the direction of his coach I recall Scottie Pippen doing the same to Phil Jackson in a playoff game vs the Knicks because with 2 seconds left Phil called a play for Tony Kukoch instead of Pippin. Kukoch hit the game winner but Phil did not throw Pippin under the bus. I would put CO on a short leach and tell him he will be benched or thrown off the team depending on any future transgressions.

Phil later did the same thing to him and Pippen went in the game. I can't remember if it was that same season or the following pre-season, though.

I think Pippen laughed about it.

Roger Rubin saying that Obekpa likely to stay. Also mentions Horford and DJ Newbill of PSU:

Newbill thing is odd. Haven't seen him listed as transferring anywhere. In fact, recent articles talk about him returning to Penn State next year.

Agreed on the Newbill. He is a guard and is not listed as a transfer.

But I can tell you the Obekpa thing is real. He is very likely to return.

I found the idea of St. John's being in on Newbill especially interesting. He's from Philly. so's Rysheed Jordan. #sjubb

I guess he shopped himself around and the promise of starting or a ton of minutes weren't there. And if Baylor and Oregon were involved as rumored, then maybe they weren't offering enough cash.

I'm glad he's back because it stops the bleeding, but refusing to go into a game still makes him a dick. Hopefully his attitude changes.

I'm just glad we've gone from the sky is falling to losing one talented guy and his buddy who everyone seemed to hate anyway.

If we land the WCC kid I like the way we look on paper. Just need to add a SF who likes to rebound and hope the staff won't stumble all over itself.

It doesn't matter if our backcourt is already crowded, Newbill is better than Greene and is big and muscular at the guard and could start as a legitimate 3. He is a stud.
