If we don't get a bid?
Mullin’s name and legend bought him the 4th year at the helm. Anyone else would have been fired for 3 awful seasons.

If he lands Precious or Kuminga in the next 2 weeks (doubtful) OR goes on a run and we win 4 more games inclusive of BET and NCAA’s then he should get his 5th year. Otherwise it’s time to move on.
Kuminga is 2021...

Precious unfortunately is fading fast...

If we win 4 more games the rest of the season (not counting NIT), then I'd say give him a 2-3 year extension rather than just his fifth year. That will be tough as only 2 games are guaranteed at this point.

Just not even looking at this from a basketball perspective just a biz perspective from the schools POV. Whether we make the NCAA or NIT. Realistically speaking Mullin has 2 years left on his contract and we are paying Slice for 2 more years. It's fair to say we have at least 2.6 million in just Slice and Mullin for next 2 years. I cant see the school eating that for next year and paying for a new staff

Pray we beat Xavier on saturday or win a couple if the BET and sneak into the NCAA.

Just win against xavier. Stop the bleeding. Weve played well just when all hope is close to lost and vice versa. Well, all hope seems to be lost so its time to flip the switch. Just win against xavier guys!!! Force them turnovers, play fast transition ball and we can win. They beat us on the road, we can beat them on the road.
The only way we win Saturday's game is if we play lights out! We're gonna have to bring our 'A-game' as a team or a few players will have to play an 'A-game.' I don't expect our staff to adjust their gameplan, so that is what will have to occur in order for us to win.

Xavier know what's at hand, and it'll be a loud and raucous building this weekend. I'm not expecting a win, but will be very elated if it were to happen.
Probably the only chance we have is to shoot 50% from 3 like we did against Rutgers. Pretty unlikely, but there is always hope.

Another aspect of this from a business perspective. The attendance numbers at MSG and CA. Have been outstanding this year. Going to be very tough for them to look at those numbers and part ways with the figurehead of the team

Would like to know the amount of tickets that were "giveaways". Also, the 12-0 definitely helped us to draw fans as well with limited MSG games.

Next year there is talk that all games will be at MSG. If we start slow it will be a empty in there for some games.
Fair game to criticize the lack of success this season, but I do remind you that most of the detractors here were giddy a week ago after the SHU win.
And before that we weren't giddy. And before that, we were. . .

It's been a roller coaster all year. There was real excitement that one of the most talented St. John's team in years could be going to the dance, and maybe even be a Cinderella story. But now it's close to midnight and we're in danger of turning into a pumpkin.

If this team goes 0-2, there will be anger on the board. And there's really not much staunch Mullin fans can do other than lay low for a while or ignore entire threads. I realized a while ago we were potentially on thin ice, so I'm probably not going to curse too much or completely blow my stack, but I'm definitely not going to tell posters to calm down either. If we miss tournament, and Zaun or someone else want to completely explode, I certainly won't disagree or call for a banning. Of course, all we have to do to avoid all this is beat Xavier. Is anyone confident about that? I'm not sure I am.

I try to let the results guide my opinions rather than my emotions. Many fans seem to back and defend certain coaches regardless of how ineffective they are. I do think there's a generational thing to it since I honestly didn't even know much about Mullin as a kid born in 89 except for just randomly hearing a few things about him. Once I was a SJ fan I learned exactly who he was. I never saw him play in college or in the NBA. I respect the hell out of him being a legend and I respect the fact that he didn't have to try to bring us back but he did. That being said, no one person is bigger than the program as a whole. I'm a St. John's fan first and a fan of specific players/coaches 2nd. I don't care if we hired Ghandi...if he gives us awful results I'm not keeping him because he's a legend or a nice guy. Not 1 fan I know of was rooting for this to fail..but it hasn't panned out unless we are on the brink of a miracle. No one is happy admitting the truth.

I'll trust Mike Cragg to make any corrections and adjustments in the offseason. This year's team has been both a treat and a nightmare to watch this season. At my age, I'm just surprised how much the negative things have bothered me.
Let's just hope for a strong finish and a trip to the dance with a win or two at the minimum.

You are kidding, right? He has a 5 year guaranteed deal, likely with an extension clause. No one would come here for a 3 year deal..

We are lucky the bubble sucks this year. I know we have a few good wins, but we have way too many bad losses and wouldn't make the cut on a normal year.

No offense Brendan, but you are one of the chief purveyors of negativity as fact without you having the slightest idea as to veracity. Your twitter account is Mullin's Maniacs, which infers undying support, yet you are among the first and most vocal to throw rocks at every loss that you thought should be a win - namely every loss. Your twitter following of 3500 was acquired in a amateurish way - keep following tons of people, and hope they follow you back, deleting the ones that don't. I have a full time person managing our company's twitter account, and it took them months to do that kind of lifting.

So please don't tell me about you being balanced. People here are gentle with you because of your age, but you are far from balanced, and at the slightest provocation begin lead the fire the inept Mullin parade.

If Mullin is inept, and the BOT is dissatisfied with the results, he will be released or asked to resign. It won't be based on virtually incoherent rants and analogies that make little sense.

I know you are a big follower of our program, but I'm not sure you are a fan in the traditional sense. Maybe it is a generational thing - you want a winner because you deserve a winner and nothing less than that you are going to be throw a fit which has earned you a timeout from here in the past.

Not picking on you in the least. Just letting your post guide my opinion rather than emotions.

That's about $1.5 million per win. You are pretty generous.

Next year , if we play like the last couple of games, the attendance is going to be down.

Players need to improve. That's all. Do we lead the planet in transfers the past 4 years? Our record of players improving the past 4 years was not good. We don't get studs because of this.

Just for the record, it's not only me on there. Wanted to clear up. As for the rest, not taking bait.

Non-NIT/CBI/CIT BS wins matter double and triple in March.

Giants went 9-7 and got into the playoffs as a wildcard but won the super bowl all the same. Postseason matters more than anything. March is everything. Let’s see what we do

I don't drag others into a discussion by name, but some people here do. I'm all for objectivity, and I would agree that this year will be a disappointment without a bid, and I've maintained that all along. My feeling from the get go is that this was a 10-8 team and at the very best 11-7. I did suggest more than a month ago that 9-9 with a bid would be okay too. To me at least 8-10 and a bid is a disappointment.

Styles also make fights. If our staff won't change their gameplan against decent-to-legit bigs, then our trip to the NCAA's could be short lived if we face a particular team early.

Lol, well I feel if Mullin is brought back he needs to be extended. Recruits needs some assurance that he will be there more than 1 year. That's part of the reason I feel he shouldn't come back unless he is extended.

If we win 4 more (again, not including NIT), then the season would certainly be a success.
