Hurley is not better than Pitino. Not even close. Exhibit A: we nearly beat UConn in the BE Tourney with a roster that was far inferior.

Pitino is past his prime. Its not even close dude.
Pitino is a great coach and is great for st johns. Comparing him to hurley is silly.

Pitino may not be at his peak, but he's still better than Hurley. Again, he was basically competing with one arm behind his back in terms of the roster that Hurley had. His temperament is far superior than Hurley's. Also- you do realize that the 2 coaches who preceded Hurley at UConn both won 2 national championships at UConn? Hurley's coaching a long-established blue blood program, it's not like he's been resurrecting DePaul.

Never said I wanted those guys back. Respect the effort they gave, but as Pitino himself said, he had to settle for what he could get.
And..there were players...he just didn't have the $ budget on Day 1.
Longer this went on, seemed more likely he’d stay
Obviously good news for UCONN fans, if true, but also benefits the Big East, and offers us diehards more chances to win a few big games against him, lead by Rick.

Whatever way it goes, look at him having himself a LeBron “The Decision” moment. I think he wants to be a star and sees the opportunity in LA and jumps at it. I feel like he’s a guy who might need a challenge, and he may feel like he’s already proved he can do college basketball and win easily. Just my gut feeling
If he stays, like others have correctly noted it’s good for the conference obviously so I’m cool with that too

If he wasn't interested after both he and his wife visited L.A., it would have been a quick NO BUT THANK YOU.

The college game has changed to the point where you may have to rebuild every two years. Instead of a 3peat he can get eliminated in the round of 32.
Well, one way to look at it is that the Lakers two most successful coaches had a history of coming and going based on the team's either having the potential to be great or not so good. (Riley, Jackson)

Rocket, agree college game has changed and not for the better. However, being subject to elimination in the Big Dance early is to me one of its best features and has really been the case since the Wooden years.

Knew a kid who was committed to a powerhouse college football team who had rumors swirling that their coach was going to the NFL. Kid said he received assurances from the coach himself that he was staying one day before he left for the NFL.
Not saying Hurley is leaving or staying but coaches always tell people they are staying until the minute they're officially gone.
This news might be bigger than the NBA Finals right now. If there were legs to Hurley telling people he's staying Woj would have reported it
