Knew a kid who was committed to a powerhouse college football team who had rumors swirling that their coach was going to the NFL. Kid said he received assurances from the coach himself that he was staying one day before he left for the NFL.

Not saying Hurley is leaving or staying but coaches always tell people they are staying until the minute they're officially gone.

This news might be bigger than the NBA Finals right now. If there were legs to Hurley telling people he's staying Woj would have reported it

Not if you live in Boston or Dallas. I wouldn't criticize Hurley either way, tough decision, but frankly there are more important things going on in the world right now unless you live in Storrs.

How it is provided to him may be other than as part of the university “salary” but it is there, not at all uncommon.

Lots of coaches have side deals with radio shows etc that are not part of their contract but definitely part of their compensation package.
