Homeland And All Things Maher

One of the best comedies of recent memory.

Sister Michael: "God, doesn't hate you Claire."

Claire: "Oh, thank you sister."

Sister: "You're not interesting enough."
I love almost every line that Sister Michael utters, here's examples:

Sister: Father Thomas usually deals with the wakes but he's very sick at the minute. Bedridden, in fact.

Gerry: God! What caused it?

Sister: Jack Daniels... mostly.
************************************

You will go far in life, Jenny. But you will not be well liked.
***********************************

What cowboy is responsible for this soundproofing? It's atrocious. You need to speak to the lad who did our confessionals. They're great. There are fellas telling Father Peter where they stashed the murder weapon and the congregation is none the wiser.

A great character. Love the split second when you see her on the bus reading "The Exorcist" and chuckling.

Me too. Especially with some of the Brit shows.
ALWAYS with the Brit shows, haha

I’m not sure I’ve mentioned this before but if you’re looking for a top Brit show, it’s not the easiest to find, This is England ‘86, ‘88 and ‘90 are a must watch especially if you’re familiar with This is England, the movie. The acting is insane, storylines intriguing as hell and very emotional. It won a bunch of BAFTAs. It’s definitely on my Mt. Rushmore of TV shows.

They’re all directed by Shane Meadows and if you’re not familiar with Dead Man’s Shoes, also directed by Meadows, you should check that out. Ultimate revenge flick with a young Paddy Considine at his best.

Finally started Severance, wanted to catch up ahead of the second season in early 2025.

3 episodes in, wow! It is tremendous I feel like we’re going to binge the rest tonight cause it’s just that good
I thought it was kinda slow at first and a little disjointed but holy cow does it all come together the last 3 episodes. I may watch it again before my 3-month trial is done in mid-January.

Finale episode of Shogun we watched last night and Nathalie and I both hated it until she found some review guy on YouTube today explaining the symbolism of everything in the last episode now I want to rewatch the entire series. Wouldn't put it in my top 5 ever but it's top 20ish

Saw some clips on YouTube and the series looks very promising.

Two of the actors took home Gold Globes last night.

Saw “A Complete Unknown” tonight at the theaters and was pretty impressed

Admittedly don’t know much about Bob Dylan, I am however a massive fan of Timothee Chalamet who is portraying Dylan, and think he did a tremendous job in this film.

thoroughly enjoyed the movie, a ton of music in it, live performances done by the actors. Monica Barbaro who portrayed Joan Baez is also fantastic
I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan and went in skeptical. Came away totally impressed by Chalamet and the film in general. Great piece of work...

Completely agree. Not only did Chalamet sound just like early Dylan, he even kind of looked and moved like him. Norton as Pete Seeger was also very good. I'm a huge Dylan fan and over 36 years of marriage have converted my wife; we (my wife, son and me) came home from seeing the movie on New Year's Day and played Dylan records the rest of the afternoon lol.

So you got tangled up in blue…

Dylan trivia question, what 50’s “idol” (not sure what else to refer to him as, had some hits for sure) did Dylan play piano for on two dates? To clarify, before Dylan was Dylan.
